Here in NYC, Southern Tier is easy find in bottles, not as so much so on tap. Their stuff always strikes me as consistently very good, and at least one guy who should know (he's a bartender at a top beer bar) says they are the best brewery in the State.
So, getting to this fine IPA: Fine, if standard, appearance. Welcoming smell with prominent hops upfront. A hoppy, piney, earthy, yet balanced taste. Consistent all the way through.
Bottom line: Great IPA. It's not re-inventing the style or going for a huge hoppy showing. Instead it is all that a regular American IPA should be...drinkable, tasty, hoppy, and the type of beer that makes you want more. Great job guys!
