Poured into a tulip glass.

Tangerine orange in color with a quickly disappearing two finger head.

Smell of this one makes my mouth water in anticipation. Citrus, candy and dominated by lovely fresh cut grapefruit.

Some sweet sugary notes followed quickly with a smack in the mouth hoppy bitterness.

Light creamy mouthfeel. Easy to drink at 6.5%

Southern Tier makes some quality beers. I new this would be another good one and it didn't disappoint. This is a really good ipa.

12oz bottle, poured into a pint glass, drank to toast the Giants opening game. In an unfair turn of events I'm having this after a Lagunitas DIPA, let's see how ST does. First off, the beer looks to be above average, clear and copper colored with a wet lacing head. It smells sweet, a little pine sap, maybe some light citrus. All of this comes through in the taste, along with a surprising amount of caramel malt, really a lot more malty sweetness than I expected. Decent body, thick and a little sticky, good overall but not as good as ST's bomber IPA's.

Picked this up at De Bierkoning in Amsterdam.

From a bottle into a snifter.

APPEARANCE: Pours a one finger medium-thin off-white head that quickly fizzes down to a thin film. Color is scarlet red or an orange-red with medium carbonation and is clear. Slight ring remains until the end and it leaves some splotchy lacing down the sides. Average at best for the style.

SMELL: A mild nose or toasted malt and spicy notes, coriander and tyme. Some hoppy floral notes as well as some grapefruit touches too. Nice, but a bit too muted.

TASTE: Toasted malt and spicy notes, like coriander and pepper and a good deal of citrus grape fruit. Alcohol is well hidden. Aftertaste is mild and long lasting with spices, floral hops and a touch of alcohol.

PALATE: Medium body and creamy on the palate. Goes down smooth with a slight bite and finishes slightly sticky on the palate. Not bad.

OVERALL: A pretty decent taste profile, though the nose could use a little beefing up. It's definitely an enjoyable and drinkable brew, however. Could have a few of these, but it's not something worth writing home about.

So someone told me that this is a good beer to try considering that I enjoy IPAs a lot. I have to say I was not disappointed at all. This is a very good beer with a ton of flavor. A great hoppy flavor, great taste and no bitter after taste at all, which I find tends to happen a lot with IPA microbrews, but none of that here. A touch of malty flavor to round out the beer really is a nice touch. One of my new favorites.

Pours a clear golden orange color with a thick frothy off-white head that has excellent retention, slowly fading into a lasting cap that leaves streaks of lacing.

Floral and citrus hop aroma with hints of citrus fruit, pineapple and grapefruit and a caramel malt backbone. Slightly piny.

Very crisp and smooth drinking with a decent balance of malt and hops. A little too malty for my preference taking away from the bitterness and citrus notes from the hops. Still earthy and bitter however with a dry pine finish.

A - Very nice looking color and head. Good retention.

S - Sweet to the nose, with a hint of bitterness in the back.

T - Very hoppy. Too much for my liking, but pleasant enough.

M - Meh.

D - I had four out of the bottle, would try it again on draft, but more than liking will be trying something else in the future.

Note; I have heard great things about this brewery and am looking forward to trying more of their products in the future.

A: Poured with a small, white head that quickly dissipated to a sparse covering. A very nice, golden-amber color with some haziness throughout.

S: The hops are what come through the most, but they're slightly fruity with hints of lemon and lime; maybe even some orange in there as well.

T: Very nice. Starts with the lemon-lime that you detect in the smell, and then finishes quite dry and bitter. This is a very fine-tasting IPA.

M: Average carbonation, with a light body and slightly creamy texture.

D: A really good IPA; the hops and bitterness come through quite nicely, but I wouldn't have a problem having two or three of these. Definitely something I'd get again.

Sampled on tap at Doherty's in Pawtucket, RI.

A golden ale with a slight haze and very little head. The aroma is very fruity with fresh peaches and apricots. The taste follows with fruit dominating the experience. There was very little bitterness and it was a bit empty in the middle and the finish. It could definitely use some more bittering hops to give it some bite. The consistency and carbonation were moderate. There's some decent lacing as the glass empties. This beer is easy to drink but it didn't have enough to warrant a second glass.

Filled the growler two days ago at Malt & Vine in Redmond, WA

Looks quite nice, small head after two days in a growler. Pours a pretty golden amber, and has pretty nice lacing.

Smell is a little weak, but is mostly fruity hops with a little floral overtones. Good stuff.

Taste is bitter and hoppy with a strong bitter aftertaste.

Mouthfeel is light and smooth...quite drinkable. I'm glad I have a growler of them.

Copper orange color with short tight sticky dirty white head. Leaves some nice sticky lacing.

Fruity and hoppy scents. Light on the nose.

Very nice balance of citrus hops and caramel malt. I can taste a hint of gemini/unearthly in this. You can tell it's Southern Tier and I like it.

Smooth, almost medium bodied. Soft on the tongue, but enough bite to keep it real. Slight piney aftertaste that finishes pretty dry.

This is one beer I could have all night. One of the better IPA's I've had in a while. I would get this again, but I'm so hooked on their gemini and unearthly that I don't know if I will. Great IPA.

12oz bottle into a Duvel tulip.

A: Nice, rich amber colored body topped with half-inch, quickly dissipating, white foam head; light, fine lacing. Perfect color but apparently under-carbonated.

S: Beautiful, balanced IPA aroma: citrus hops and caramel malts in perfect harmony. Very nice, and only fails to get a 5 because of a lack of complexity - I love the two dominant aromas, but they're the only ones there.

T: Somewhat more complex than the smell, but not in the way I was hoping. The hops run an interesting course of bitterness (from grapefruit to floral with just a hint of pine), but the caramel malt notes from the nose have been replaced with a less intense, dry, biscuity flavor on the finish. All bitter, all dry, not as balanced as the smell - still tasty, though.

M: Light carbonation and a fairly thin body.

D: The dryness of the finish makes taking another sip practically inevitable, and the 6.5% ABV is nowhere to be found. A highly drinkable IPA.

Notes: Definitely a quality beer for the price, I'm more than happy with this basic offering from Southern Tier - I've still yet to have a beer from them that I didn't either like or at least find intriguing (I'm looking at you, Creme Brulee). Overall, a very enjoyable brew.

A - Thick off-white head that lingers. Dark golden color.

S - Hmm. Not as hoppy as most IPAs tend to smell. Smells lightly of pine and more intensely of sweet malt.

T - Ah, there are the hops. This is a sweet IPA, not bitter at all. Very well balanced.

M - Creamy but not overly thick. Crisp.

D - I could session this more than other IPAs due to the sweet, clean taste and lack of bitterness.

Overall, a pretty decent IPA. I'd like to taste more hops and less sweetness. Still, this is well balanced and refreshing.

Nice honey yellow in colour and almost clear with an initial one-finger head. Not much retention but some decent lacing.

Lots of grapefruit, citrusy hops and sweet caramel. Smells great.

Lots of hops, though not an overwhelming amount. Hops are definitely in the front here but are balanced with some malt in the background. Big grapefruit presence. Short bitter finish, no alcohol present. This beer has a big flavour without being too much. Uncomplicated and delicious.

Great smooth medium body with a light carbonation. The feel suits the flavour very well.

This is extremely drinkable. One of the best middle-of-the-road hoppy IPAs I've had the chance to sample. I could drink this all night long.

Presentation: poured into a tulip glass from a brown bottle.

A: Semi-cloudy amber color with minimal head and medium lacing retention.

S: Very mild hoppy, pine scent.

T&M: Nice medium bodied IPA with crisp medium carbonation. Taste is not too strong, slightly piney and spicy. Light hops and almost too mild for an IPA. Good taste but almost bordering an a standard ale.

Very good.

This beer pours a clear medium orange colour, with a small thin soapy white head, and very sparse lace. It smells of light citrus hops and sweet caramel malt. The taste is orange and grapefruit hops, and more strong caramel malt. The carbonation is average, the body is nice and full and creamy, and it finishes off-dry and hoppy. A very well-balanced and tasty Yankee IPA.

I empty the bottle into my glass the beer is a clear golden color with at least 2 inched of head that just sits there. I mean I watched some tv chatted with the lady and looked at some mail and the head was still there. WOW! After it finally receades the glass is covered in in sticky lace. I mean covered. The aroma is fresh hops. Piney and sour. Just the way I like it. The flavor is hop and malt but, hops are much more in up front. Very crisp and refreshing. Medium body with a nice sticky hop linger. This is a very tasty brew. A damn fine IPA in my book.

One of my all time favorites. I find this beer to be exceptionally smooth with a great hoppy flavor. This IPA pours a fantastic bronze color and has great lacing. The smell is exceptional. This is Southern Tier's flagship for a reason. If you enjoy this brew try to find the imperial version called Unearthly. Again, Southern Tier knocks it out of the park. Cheers!

Poured from bottle into a pint glass.

A: Great lacing, light and gold color.

S: Very sweet and hoppy.

T: Amazingly balanced crisp IPA. Not too hoppy for those who aren't into the bitter. Would be enjoyed even by a non-IPA drinker. Sweet great taste.

M: Full, crisp and carbonated.

D: Great balanced IPA, I would highly recommend.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. About an inch of head that disappeared very quick. Hops aroma is overwhelming. I let this warm for a few minutes in the glass before tasting. Bitter hoptastic bomb of a beer, citrus a bit of pineapple in the up front flavor. Smooth mouthfeel, a solid brew but a bit watery after drinking some of their other offerings.

Appearance: Pours a clear honey color with a one finger head that retains reasonably well and leaves a few shards of lacing behind

Smell: Sweet and citrusy, with a piney element as well; a little too sweet, for my nostrils

Taste: Starts out sweet and citrusy, but there is a quick shift to the bitter side, with a somewhat grassy aspect to it; by mid-palate, the sweet malts return and bring an almost sugary sweetness into the fray; after the swallow, the flavors blend together as expected

Mouthfeel: Medium body, a bit sticky, with moderate carbonation

Drinkability: Not a bad IPA, but it has a sweet and grassy edge that I am not too crazy about; I like their bomber series much better

Poured from a bottle into a standard pint.

Pours a brilliantly clear straw with a creamy, frothy head that looks like whipped cream. Very nice presentation.

Aroma is of hops and light malt. Tannic acid tea like aroma with a bite of citrus and sweet bread.

Flavor is crisp malt with a nice hop rider. Hops are citrusy, fresh and tasty. The malt has a crackery lightness to it, but not weak by any means. A nice floral clover honey like flavor rides in the background.

Mouthfeel is standard medium body with ample carbonation. Creamy and slightly on this side of lush.

A nice drinkable IPA.

Pours an orange clear color with a one finger head. The smell is floral and citrus up front maybe orange or grapefruit, giving way to hops. The taste has a grain fruit sweetness up front which gives way to a bitter hop finish. The mouthfeel is moderate carbonation. Overall this is a solid IPA that is slightly complex.

Appearance: Pours a golden copper color with a light in texture foamy head that leaves some nice lacing.

Aroma: The hops in this beauty are front and center presenting themselves in quite a bold manner. Minor hints of citrus such as grapefruit with the sweetness of orange rounding it out.

Taste: From the first sip it has a bit a smooth mouthfeel leaving a honey like coating on the palate. However lets not leave out the main attraction all the tasty hops. Like a gust of wind the hops rush in rather gracefully. With mild sweetness from the malts. Nice citrusy notes all over.

Notes: This is a prime example of a well brewed i.p.a. Cheers

I had out of a 12 oz. bottle.
A- Dull gold into copper. A few bubbles with a limited head that leaves some lace.
S- Excellent hoppy smell to it. Nice sweet spice.
T- This tastes exactly how I expect an IPA to taste. Some nice sweetness at first, semi-fruity, with a nice bitter aftertaste, that is balanced.

This what an IPA is supposed to taste like.

Poured into pint glass.

A-Orange/copper/pale brown with small head and nice lacing all the way down. Its what youd expect.

S-It smells of earthy hops a bit with nice flowery fruit. I enjoyed it.

T-Taste was awesome you really got a feel of the hops but it wasnt overpowering. Its almost zesty when pressed on the palate.

M-It was fine carbonation wise. Wasnt too thick or thin...just fine.

D-A very drinkable beer IMO. Very very good to throw back a few of these badboys after a hard day workin.
