Poured into pokal. Crystal clear yellow-orange with a thick fluffy white head that dissipates quickly leaving delicate lacing. Smells like an ale; hops and clear malts. Taste is like a cross between an IPA, a pale ale, and a lager; hops move in and out of clean malts with lager yeast finishing a little bitterly with hops. Mouthfeel is clean, a bit thicker because of the high abv.
I'd like to try more of this style, but it doesn't amaze me.

Appearance is a cloudy light copper with a half finger of lacing. This offering is heavier in both body and flavor than the standards of this style. The flavor is malty with an almost molasses-like sweetness. The finish is semi-dry and lightly bitter. There is also a faint lingering sweet note.
I think that this experiment proves that not all beer styles are better "doubled" or "imperialed."
