Pours a rich amber with a tall off white head.

Smells of nuts, caramel, malt, and earth.

Big malt flavor up front with thick bread notes and some sweet caramel flavor. The taste is kept lively with good carbonation and a slight hop bitterness - floral and herb. A very tasty beer reminds me of an octoberfest without the roasted malt flavor.

A - Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. Pours a nice amber color with less than one finger head and nice lacing.

S - Not much coming through on the smell. Not hoppy, pretty bland smell.

T - Tastes like your standard steam. I've come to expect a little more from ST. It kind of tastes like a weaker IPA.

M - Good carbonation and slightly sweet on the tongue. Bitterness comes through at the finish.

O - It's definitely an interesting beer and I'm glad I decided to pick one up. Not sure if I would ask for another one, however. I haven't had too many steam beers but in my novice opinion I'd rather stick to another one of the ST ales.

A - poured very clear amber with a nice 1" head

S - very light non distinct smell

T - once again a mild flavor that was not overwhelming. reminded me of generic lagers but slightly heaver

M - good carbonation w/o being harsh

O - not one of the better offerings at Southern Tier who makes some really great beers

A - So far so good it's a bright clear deep amber brown, fed by mild carbonation I do get a nice 1/2 inch of sticky head. Decent lacing.
S - Smells pretty plan like an ESB or a amber lager. Not getting much hops it smells rather boring.
T - Again it kind of taste like an amp'd up amber lager. Mild copper taste, caramel malts, and skunky lager taste. Man I can't get over the metallic taste...
M - Best part it hide the ABV well drinks like 6% but the flavors are all off and distracting.

Overall I see the label that 2 types of hops were used maybe they should have used another? Usually ST hits the ballpark with these 2X beers being balanced and hoppy but this one is metallic stingy and somewhat terrible...

Appearance - translucent golden amber color with frothy white head

Smell - wheat, baked bread, corn

Taste - bread, black pepper, wheat, sweet corn, grassy hops

Mouthfeel - highly carbonated, medium bodied, slightly sweet, syrupy, bitterness at the back

Overall - Decent representation of the style, although it comes in a bit heavier and is not quite as refreshing as an Anchor Steam

Price Point - $1.49/12 oz single

Poured into pokal. Crystal clear yellow-orange with a thick fluffy white head that dissipates quickly leaving delicate lacing. Smells like an ale; hops and clear malts. Taste is like a cross between an IPA, a pale ale, and a lager; hops move in and out of clean malts with lager yeast finishing a little bitterly with hops. Mouthfeel is clean, a bit thicker because of the high abv.
I'd like to try more of this style, but it doesn't amaze me.
