an imperial pale ale of sorts, in tap at the screamin eagle in inlet, ny. the pour is bright yellow and just about perfectly clear, with a huge white foam head that only relaxes a little. the appearance is great. the nose is too, well hoppy with a mix of bitterness and citrus, not super bright, but not an oily bitter bomb either. very light malt base in smell and taste allows the big hops to come through. this isn't as interesting hop wise as unearthly or even the regular ipa, but it is quite refreshing for its size. lots of alcohol comes through the mouthfeel, hot on the way down, and its exacerbated by vibrant carbonation and not much malt body or sweetness to mellow things out. not a beer I need more than a pint of, but it gives me a nice buzz and is a good addition to the southern tier lineup overall, just a bit understated compared to some of their rock stars.

Pours a straw color with honey highlights. A short wispy white that settles into a light ring. Some moderate yeast floaters.

The aroma is bright. Nice citrus hops, mainly grapefruit. Floral notes from the rose hips. Malt is very light so the hops really standout.

The taste is hoppy but mellow. Not very aggressive hops but quite flavorful. Nice citrus flavors, grapefruit and some orange. Perhaps a touch of lime and grass. The rose hips seem to compliment the hops and not add much extra flavor besides a floral presence. The malt is dry and crackery despite the large malt bill. It drinks quite light for a 9% beer.

The feel is light to moderate with airy carbonation. Lightly bitter on the palate. Finishes dry and crisp. ABV well hidden.

Flavor wise it is good but not great. I am impressed by how drinkable this big beer is. Drinks like a session.

This brew is a light golden color...plenty of aarbonation and a little yeast haze. The smells refreshing in its own right...citrus...orange and lemon peel, yeast, a bit of fresh baked bread, and fresh cut grass. The taste is interesting....rose hips, says the label, and the floral nature of the flower fruit comes out here. Also some spice and firm hop bitterness. Full body, and some alcohol warmth. Nice.

A-Cloudy bright orange, one finger head.

S-Mainly lemon and citrus, tad bit of malt, nice hop presence.

T-Nice balance, rather citrusy, lemon and orange. Nice bitterness with some caramel malt. Floral notes as well.

M-Light to medium bodied, nicely carbonated.

O-Another solid beer out of ST. Not sure why it needed to be 9% but still very tasty.
