Bottle into Pint Glass

Appearance- Deep copper, clear, 1 finger head fell fast.

Aroma- Spicy rye snap, pine, herbal ,citurs hops, slightly sweet bready malt, slight booze

Flavor- good amount of rye spicy, and earthy, pine more up front here with some floral notes as well, good malt backbone, much easier drinking than 8% would suggest.

Mouthfeel- a bit more than medium but light for the abv, medium cabonation. slight alcohol warmth

Overall- I was pumped for this being that I love ST and rye beers in general, and this is tasty. Really fits the weather right now and is damn tasty. Maybe not the best rye beer out there but a must try for rye fans.

Pours a rich amber color with a slight haze. A desent size head formed on the pour but faded very quickly.
I didn't get much aroma and actually had that all too familiar old IPA smell.
The taste confirms my superstitions, yes it's old. I can detect a very light rye taste and barely any hops.
Taste is pretty good. It's sweet spicy and finishes with a dry biting bitterness.
Needs to be fresh for proper enjoyment.

Bottled 8/21/13. Poured 3/21/13... yeah, that's kinda old for my liking. $2.19 single bottle poured into a shaker pint.

Appearance: Aggressive pour gave a "frothy" (mm.. lovely word) white/sandy colored head. Very slight haze. Copper color.

Smell: Spicy hops and rye, but mostly rye. Maybe a little bit of caramel malt, but the rye dominates.

Taste/feel: Hm. Gotta assume it's past its prime by a decent bit. Nice body with a slight carbonation. A slightly spicy sweet rye flavor. Then a caramel malt aftertaste. Something's weird/off about this beer though. Maybe it's the sweetness I'm getting? It's a bit artificial or something. For some reason, a bit watery. It's hard for me to explain. It's definitely not bad, but it seems... light. 8% ABV isn't there in any way, so that's a good plus. The rye profile is nice, but it's not completely coming together for me.

I'd try this again on draft or in a fresher bottle maybe, but I'm not all that impressed with this beer as it is now.
