Poured from a 22 oz. bottle into a Surly Darkness chalice glass. Date of bottling is 09/17/13.
Appearance: Pours a dark black color with a slight hint of brown. Moderate amount of bubbles and about one finger of tan head that fades into a thin creamy layer. Leaves a decent amount of lacing on the glass.
Smell: A sweet and roasty dark malt driven aroma with big hints of chocolate, spices, and pumpkin. Dark roasted barley malts with big hints of dark chocolate, coffee beans, cream, caramel, toffee, burnt toast, biscuit, nuts, and yeast. Big scent of spices with hints of cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and clove. Noticeable scent of pumpkin. Sweet syrupy hints of molasses and brown sugar. An interesting and pretty good aroma.
Taste: Like the nose, a sweet and roasty stout taste with big notes of chocolate roast, fall spices, and pumpkin. Dark roasted barley malts with a big taste of dark chocolate, coffee beans, cream, burnt toast, sweet caramel, toffee, biscuit, yeast, nuts, and a little smoke. A mix of fall spices with notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and clove. Good taste of pumpkin comes through. Sweet notes of molasses, brown sugar, and syrup. Hops are pretty subtle. A very good taste.
Mouthfeel: Medium to full bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Creamy, spicy, and fairly syrupy. Alcohol heat is masked fairly well.
Overall: A very good twist on a Imperial Stout. The pumpkin and spices mix well with the roasty malt notes. Sweet but not overwhelming.

Pours into a goblet a deep cola color with a half finger light beige head that left a broken ring of lace as it settled quickly.Wow the most aromatic pumpkin infused beer I have come across, roasted pumpkin, cardamom, and raw leafy hops stand out most, add vanilla and graham crackers and you have a big complex nose.Flavor of roasted pumpkin and vanilla/spices with some roast, like a pumpkin latte, the raw hops are still playing a big role. What a cool beer,it's a brash pumpkin stout with a real hop profile with alot of malty richness.Top notch.

In a goblet, this beer was a very dark brown, near black color. There was a minuscule to non-existant tan head.
Sweet chocolate aroma. Some pumpkin. Very subtle spice.
Taste followed form. Milk chocolate and pumpkin. A little allspice.
This was a smooth, not overly spiced beer. I thought the combination of stout and pumpkin went very well, with enough spice, but not too much spice.

This was a really interesting beer. An imperial stout brewed with pumpkin puree!!! They recommend you serve it in a goblet, and I was happy to oblige. The beer starts out tasting like a very nice imperial stout and then breaks off into a nice natural pumpkin flavor with a nice kick at the end!
Was happy I found this at my local store, worth the 10$- Looking forward to buying it next year or finding it on tap again!

Appearance: high carbonation, 3/4 inch head, clear, dark brown in color
Smell: pumpkin spice and graham cracker
Taste: dark chocolate, charred/roasted malt, cream, sugar, and pumpkin spice
Mouthfeel: Sweet with bitter char in the background, medium-heavy body, medium-high carbonation
Overall: Really tasty compliment beer to Pumpking. I do think I like Pumpking better, but this one is a nice combo of char and great pumpkin flavor. Southern Tier does pumpkin well.
