I’ve been dreaming of cracking a bottle ever since I heard Southern Tier was offering this. I finally had the chance to, so here is the review.
Pours a dark brown with a one finger head into a Hill Farmstead wine glass.
Smells of roasted malt, pumpkin, and a hint of spice.
Taste is not what I had expected. This is thinner than pumking. It seems like pumking with some darker kiln malts, and a bit less sweetness. Not really working for me. Mid-palate is straight pumking backbone, but otherwise it isn’t as well refined as I expected.
Mouthfeel is thin, thinner than pumking, even though I was hoping for a nice thick chewy mouthfeel.
Overall, its an OK brew, but I won’t be picking up anymore.

Truly, the standard by which all other stouts are measured. I love this beer.
a: black, minimal head, tan foam, feint lacing
s: roasty chocolate and coffee
t: Deep, rich chocolate with caramel and vanilla, hints of black coffee, vanilla and nutmeg cinnamon spice, gradually giving way to pumpkin. Remarkable!
m: full body, creamy, sticky, thick feel, soft carbonation, long finish,
o: A perfect imperial stout

22oz. bomber poured into a porter glass
A- Appears black at first, but when held to the light, it's dark ruby, clear. Tan head sticks around a bit, but doesn't lace.
S- Smells like Pumking with a hint of cocoa and roast.
T-Straight forward Pumking flavors, spices with that graham cracker crust flavor. There is just a touch of nuttiness, roast, and cocoa. Honestly, I could use more of the stout aspects of the beer.
M- Light side of full, again, could use more stout characteristics.
O- It's good, but honestly, I'd reach for Pumking first. Go all in on the stout side and I think it would be a much more original entry from ST.
