Golden color in the glass with a nice head and excellent lacing on the glass. Nose is citrus hops. Tongue is a great well hopped IPA picking up citrus and pine... but lots of hops and in the double IPA territory. Good carbonation on the mouthfeel and lingers well after taste.

Hopzone is a great beer, not too carbonated, but still gives off a great aroma. You can smell the smooth citrus and pine hop blend. Great drinkability, great mouthfeel, and a finish that leaves a smile on your face and wanting more. The fact that this beer is available in the can is awesome for the river. A favorite for cold winter nights as well as hot summer days.
Great balance in this beer, definitely a go to as far as IPAs go. Working in an airport, many people from around the country have told me this is one of their all time favorites...

a massively delicious ipa, one of the best beers ive had from the state of montana. flashy in its green can, indeed a decent serving vessel for this rich looking frothy honey colored brew. the nose is bright fruity hops, resinous and west coast in general orientation, but far from it in the varietals used. definitely a tropical mosaic type of flavor to this, especially in the finish, maybe some amarillo too, it has that pungent earthen fruity aspect to it, which i love with the paler malts. plenty of texture and body, carbonation isnt prickly but its robust, serving more to add to the creaminess than to punctuate the experience, a sudsy ipa to say the least. abv is right where i like my hoppy beer to be this time of year, and a sixer of this is a pretty massive dose, definitely break that up with a friend or lover. top notch ipa from montana here, distinct and memorable. very well done, cool hop varietals and only bitter enough. im thirsty for more!

Poured from can into a pint glass

Appearance – The beer pours a medium golden color with a huge head of white billowy foam. The head has a good level of retention, slowly fading to leave some foamy lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma of the beer is lower on the malt smells and heavier on the hop. The lighter malt smells are of a light bready smell mixed with just a little bit of an orange aroma. The hop is rather big and bold with a big pine aroma being the heaviest, but having plenty of grapefruit and earthy hops mixed within. Overall the brew smells like it is on the drier side with a good hit of resinous hop.

Taste – The taste begins with a drier cracker like taste mixed with a lighter pine and grapefruit hop. The grapefruit gains a little bit of strength toward the middle, but maintains a lighter profile overall. The pine grows stronger and stronger as the flavor moves onto the end and is joined by some more herbal hop flavors along the way. Some earthy hops and a little bit of tangerine pop up at the end of the taste and mix with the drier cracker and other hop flavors, to leave a rather crisp and moderately resinous hop flavor to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the average side in terms of thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is on the average side. The moderateness of the carbonation and body is a nice balance for the crisp taste and easy drinkability, all while upholding all the hop flavors to a good extent.

Overall – A rather crisp and moderately resinous IPA that is rather easy to drink. A pleasant IPA overall.

Nice to have this six pack while traveling around MT and WY for the last two plus weeks. This is the last can of the pack and time for a review.

A- 12oz can poured into a chalice for the review with a fairly clear light amber body. A white head rises on the beer to almost two fingers with a frothy texture with some giant bubbles. A thick ring leaves sheets of lace followed by spots and drizzle.

S- Hop forward but no one note really jumps out to me, more of a melding of citrus, pine, floral, herbal and fruity hop aromas. The 7% ABV results in some malt coming out in the backdrop but not enough to take away from the hop aim.

T- Here the hop bouquet is somewhat citrus and pine forward with grapefruit and orange zest coming to mind and then the other flavors of stone fruit, floral, herbal and earthy come into play. A decent amount of malty sweetness with light cracked grain and slight caramel hints.

MF- Light-medium bodied with a silky and foamy texture. Agitation brings on some creaminess. Carbonation level is on the high side and a moderate clean bitterness finishes the beer off.

A lot of different hop flavors come into play but the beer never feels muddled. I can appreciate the bitter citrus zest and then get some hints of tangerine and stone fruit and the high carbonation and 7%ABV drive those flavors home. I really enjoyed having this over the last few weeks while camping, one of the better random finds of my trip so far.
