Citra and Centennial hops produce bold citrus and tropical fruit flavors, which are layered with lemon and dill from one of our favorite hops, Sorachi Ace.

Beautiful brew: fairly clear, orange-ish, topped with a flat white head with excellent retention.
Aroma is a nice mixture of mandarin orange and tropical fruit, but it doesn't come across particularly strong or complex.
Flavor is a major letdown: there's a fairly juicy hop profile, but I had little luck picking out distinct flavors. I would say it leans toward tropical, with lighter citrus flavors (not unlike lemon candy), but at the same time it's a touch syrupy and sweet.
Mouthfeel is more or less average, but there are major up-ticks for the extremely subdued alcohol presence; you couldn't possibly assume the 8.1% ABV by the feel of it. Drinkable; a touch syrupy.
This is, for me, a rare miss by Outer Light. It could be the hop varietals used; although I'm quite fond of Citra and especially Centennial, I've never really enjoyed Sorachi Ace. Thus, I don't think it's a bad beer in any way, but it's far less geared for my palate than OLBC's other offerings.

A: slight haze; bronze in color; 1 finger ivory head that receded to a thin collar; very little lacing;
S: grapefruit is dominant, with pine, floral, and sweet malt in the background;
T: follows the nose initially - a little sweet, with pine taking over from mid-palate through the finish; mild bitterness at the end that increases to medium in the aftertaste;
M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation; dry finish;
O: I like the complexity of the flavor, but the various components just don't meld together well (for my taste)

Sampling a cold growler of this beer poured into a snifter. The beer pours a clear copper hue with some orange highlights. There is a creamy bleached white head of about 1 cm foaming up and it fades to a sturdy edge layer and one large wispy island in the center of my glass.
The aroma is rich and hoppy with pine sap, grapefruit and some tropical fruit notes, maybe mango. Very appealing nose and entices me to take a sip.
First sip reveals a sticky textured beer with very fine and spacious carbonation. The body is average to a little thick and adds to the enjoyability of the beer.
Flavor is a brief hint of caramel and then rolls to all hops. I get a fair amount of tropical fruit and some pine sap with a bit of astringent finish.
The booze isnt apparent at the start but it sneaks up on me as I work through the growler. There is no heat to reveal the booziness, but this beer certainly packs a bit of a punch.
This is an interesting and appealing double IPA. I enjoy the complex aroma and the body and texture make for an enjoyable beer.
worth a shot if it is available at the brewery.
