Served on tap in a pilsner glass at the Driskill Hotel in Austin. Wonderful beer overall. Great thirst quencher.

Smelled of lively hops. Great golden color with thin head. Awesome mouthfeel. The hops blend well together and finish with hints of malt. A very smooth and drinkable brew.

I had this last night off of a keg at a friend's party. It was the first time that I got to sample this, and I must say that it was very tasty. I took some notes while I was there

Poured into a pine glass.

Appearance - It produced a two finger white head. It was a orange-amber-copper color, and was completely transparent. The head dissipated relatively quickly but it left a bit of lace behind.

Smell - I mostly smelled grapefruity citrus from the hops, but there was an underlying sweetness to it - a fruity caramel sweetness.

Taste - Pretty tasty. Fairly bitter combined with citrus, and slight caramel sweetness. The hops begin and end the flavor.

Mouthfeel - It had a light to medium body with a slightly oily texture. The carbonation level was excellent and really helped to cut through the texture.

Drinkability - Awesome. The awesome taste and the low ABV makes this easily sessionable.

Live Oak is a really great brewery, I just wish that they would bottle their brews.

Sampled at the Ginger man in Austin. Served in a standard pint, the beer is a burnished copper with a chill haze and a beige head.

The beer has a delightful nose of citrus and malts. Maybe because it is local product, but this beer was very fresh and inviting.

The taste is a pleasant combination of bitterness (cascade hops perhaps), citrus, apple and semisweet malts that add heft and balance. Oily finish that coats the mouth with the wonderful flavors.

This is a very easy drinker and a beer that can stand up to sausages, strong cheeses, olives, etc. Another great Live Oak product!

Nice gold colored pour with a good sized white head as poured on draft. Smell is very nice, with an apricot fruity hoppiness, and a touch of honey and a bit of yeast. Taste is quite fruity, sweet malt, with a lasting light bitterness from the perfect hop presence. This is an underrated, quality pale similar to their IPA in flavors, but milder. Perfect combination of crisp and smooth feel on the palate. Proud to know this is a local beer, and one I look forward to getting again.

Had on tap at the Ginger Man in big D. I'm pretty sure the menu called this an IPA, so I reviewed it as such. As an IPA I was having some serious issues with this one, and was surprised it wasn't more hoppy, but when I got home to review it, and figured out it was an APA, things worked themselves out, but it was like taking a drink of water that you expected to be Sprite. It just kind of screwed with my head. Anyway, here's an APA review of an IPA that was really an APA. . . got that? Color was a hazy orange. It had an already receded tan head which revealed less than a full pint pour, but what the hey. A large sheet of lace was left behind. Smelled of the customary hops as well as some malts. A little citrus was also evident. The hops were a bit more subtle than usual (because it was an APA dammit!). Tasted of more hops with a nice malt backbone, which is more apparent than is typical of the style (once again). A mild undercurrent of fruits existed. So, overall, this is a good beer, and this was a great test for me, as I did notice some things didn't seem to fit right, and proved to myself that I can overcome the power of suggestion in an unintentional blind taste test:)

On tap at the Dog & Duck, Austin.

The beer is a nice, clear, pale amber with small white head that dies to flat little continents of film. Lots of grapefruit in the nose. Just a little sweetishness. The front is hugely hoppy, with an underlying sweet fruitiness. A nice caramel malt makes a brief appearance before the hops take over the very bitter finish. There's a pleasant roasty nuttiness at the end, too. This is a great, fresh, lunch-on-the-patio beer. Would make a good session.

I enjoyed three of these pints during my stop in Austin. The aroma had a nice floral hoppy smell. The beer had a fresh crisp hoppy taste with a good bitter lingering hop aftertaste. It's drinkability is superb and I recommend this as a great tasting and refreshing IPA.
