From notes 09/30/10, on tap at Dancing Bear Pub.

A- Light copper, 1cm head, lots of lacing, really bubbly.

S- Hops, malt backbone, sweet and sticky.

T/M- Hoppy goodness, medium/heavy body, rich, sticky and a bit puckering.

D- Really great, a bit of caramel and toffee buried in there. I like it and I will be drinking it again.

Sampled on tap at the Draught House in early May 2010.

The beer pours a yellow-orange color with a white head. The aroma is heavy on the floral hops and I almost get some grape-like notes. The flavor is floral hops with some more grapes as well as some light citrus notes. Medium bitterness, medium carbonation and medium mouthfeel. As much as I wanted to like this beer, I just couldn't get past the big floral notes.

Med-dark caramel brown color. Very clear. Bright white half finger head, creamy and bubbly. Very sticky, good lacing.

Strong on citrus, lemon and lime, slight orange. Some very distinct pine notes. Slight malt undertones.

Not a lot of distinct flavors. A sort of vauge fruity sweetness. Not particularly bitter for the style, but not overly sweet either. Does seem to sweeten with warmth. Risidual grapefruit bitterness at the back of the tongue.

Not too bad, but there are definitely better IPAs out there.

Had on-tap at the FW Ginger Man.

Goldish-amber, with a thick, white, sticky head that remains as a nice dense cap, supported by slow, steady carbonation. Smells of grapefruit, blueberry, raspberry, with a hint of fresh pine needles. Mmm...

In the mouth, light and smooth on the tongue, not too oily, with lots of tartness up front, fruits and floral aromas still come through, and a healthy dose of bittering hops with a mild sweet malt background and a slight alcohol spice.

This is delightful, in the vein of BridgePort or St. Arnold's Elissa, very aromatic, well-balanced and crisp. It's a good beer for nice sunny-but-cool weather like we had yesterday, and certainly a go-to IPA.

Had a pint at Opal Divine's on 6th in Austin. This felt and drank more like a pale ale and had a much cleaner, smoother hop character. There was some balance from bready malt and then an almost juicy citrus character. Very drinkable but not too light, give it a try.

Had this on tap at the Ginger Man in Austin. Pours a hazy dark yellow/light orange with 2 fingers of white head. Head dissipates slowly leaving moderate lacing. Great hop aroma with a lot of complexity - grapefruit, peach, and a hint of pine. Taste is fruity as well with a strong pale malt presence to keep things balanced. Finishes dry. Somewhat heavy mouthfeel leads to moderate drinkability.

Hazy copper, creamy off-white head. The nose is bright, fruity, and floral. However it's a little subdued for an IPA. The flavor opens up with sweet citrus followed swiftly by an assertive bitterness that hangs on through a medium finish, imparting a borderline astringency to the mouthfeel. The mellow aftertast includes a touch of pear. Mid-pint, the flavors become decidedly fresh and fruity. Overall a quality entry. Check it out.

Appearance: Hazy, light golden color, with a moderate white head, thick lacing, and little carbonation.

Aroma: Strong wave of herbal at grapefruit hops in the nose. The malt is struggles to assert itself at all.

Taste: Pine tar hops dominate the aroma, with a slight sweet malt presence, but the hop bitterness overshadows all else. Finishes with a lingering herbal hop bitterness.

Mouth feel: Smooth and very full, pleasant.

Drinkability/notes: The hop usage seemed a bit heavy-handed, even in light of the style, leaving little room for the other characteristics of this example.

Sampled at The Draught House in Austin, Texas.

Draft on-tap at the Gingerman, Dallas.
Bright, clear amber/orange color with a half inch of white foam. Foam settled quickled, left thin stringy lace. Smell has lots of citrusy hops, sharp yet fresh smelling. Flavors is blod, very hoppy, yet not out of balance. Enough malty sweetness to keep the hops in check. Flavorful, bitter, lots of citrus and pine. Mouthfeel is medium with a dry finish. A very good IPA.

Beer has a cloudy dark gold pour with a small white head. Has a floral aroma with some hints of citrus. The medium body has a really well balanced grapefruit and pine hop flavor backed by just a bit of bready malt. Finishes with a mild piney bitterness.
