Dark brown appearance with a slight tan head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is a pleasant malt with a slight touch of bourbon. Taste is a very mild bourbon and malt blend.

This was OK, not a huge fan but it was quite decent. 5/10/18 date printed on bottle. Pours a dark jet black color that was a little surprisingly thin, small amount of mocha head and spotty lingering lacing that faded somewhat quickly. Smells of dark roast coffee, dark chocolate, caramel, malt, vanilla and a little nuttiness. Tastes similarly, decent balance and depth, could have been a little more complex. Higher ABV was fairly well hidden, not too much warming alcohol. Smooth, slightly thin mouthfeel, decent carbonation. Not blown away by this - was a little disappointed.

16 February 2020 - Beer #29
Price: $17.99 on Tavour
Appearance: 4 - nearly perfect. Good looking dark tan head, but the blackness is too at the edges.
Nose: 4 - no barrel whatsoever. But it's a nice smelling stout. Very deep and roasty.
Taste: 4 - straight up stout. Maybe a tiny bit of barrel sweetness if you squint. I like straight up stout.
Mouth: 5 - well crafted. Thick and chewy. Comes alive with some chewing.
Overall: 4 - a fine stout. Just wish there were more barrel.
Cheers!

Tar-black body topped with a thin, tan colored head. Rich, malty aroma; infusion of cocoa with notes of dates and raisins. Huge flavors of cocoa with a nifty bourbon presence; milk chocolate with a bit of vanilla. Heavy body; velvety; warm, boozy quality with a silky chocolate sweetness.
A beautiful beast of a beer, full of rich lushness, mildy sweet chocolate with a superbly balanced bit of whiskey heat. My bottle indicates the ABV is 11.2%.

2016 edition of Drake's Bourbon Barrel Drakonic, on tap at Khyber Pass. Aged for only four months in High West barrels... but mighty flavorful!
Very good barrel character, smooth feel, high drinkability. My first beer from this brewery and I am impressed.

The beer pours relatively thick leaving a half inch of dark khaki head from an aggressive pour in to a teku. The smell on this beer is pretty divine. Very nice balance between the barrel notes and the underlying notes of the beer. Bourbon boozy notes with a hint of vanilla complemented nicely by a strong roasty note. The flavor is also a hallmark of balance between barrel and underlying beer. There is a slight sweetness on the front end followed by a pleasant roastiness that is not overpowering or bitter; again, balance of flavors. The beer is lightly carbonated as is proper for the style with a silky smooth mouthfeel that is pleasantly thick. Overall I was very impressed by this beer. Great balance between barrel and beer. This is what a barrel aged Russian Imperial Stout should strive to be.
