Appearance - orange color with a slight head.

Smell - citrus and pine alerting you of the hops to follow.

Taste - smooth and a top of the class IPA.

Mouthfeel- medium bodied not overly bitter.

Overall - this is a top 5 DIPA and thanks to BN for bringing it back to Pittsburgh. More BA's need to have a chance to drink this.

Drake's definitely makes some vibrant glowing ipas, and this one is no exception.

Great mix of many citrus smells here, variety, you really get a bouquet (sic?) of fruit, orange, lemon, lime, banana even, just lush. Always have to give a tip of the cap to the breweries that do the dry hopping this extensive and keep prices down on the bottles ($6).

Taste, sure, there's some heat and sweet on this, but its still a really good mildly great double ipa. The bitterness isn't egregious, it allows the floral fruit hop vibe chill and the malt backbone and sweetness are riding cargo.
Another winner by Drake's. This and Denogginizer are pretty much like, flip of the coin always, win, for me.

A hazy, apricot colored beer with a small, fast falling head. Nicely clinging lace on the glass. Strong aroma, somewhat harsh, boozy, astringent, lots of pine resin.

Flavor follows the nose; assertive bitterness, resinous pine hops leading the way, lesser citrus notes; strong chewy maltiness. Moderate sweetness, overly aggressive alcohol for my taste. Bitter, lingering aftertaste, semi-dry finish.

Medium-full body, medium carbonation. Somewhat smooth and creamy, not too shabby in the mouthfeel department. Overall, though, I felt this one was a bit heavy handed, harshly alcoholic, and not all that drinkable. It’s not bad but this style is being brewed with a lot more finesse and elegance these days.

650 mL bottle into a clear Solo cup. A good beer to drink after moving. Sadly I don't have any glassware unpacked. Thanks to aekoops for this bottle! Reviewed from notes.

Appearance - Murky orange body. Dull looking. Not much head, but it sticks to the cup.

Smell - Very hoppy. Citrusy and a hint of some grassy hops. Sweet aroma faintly in the back.

Taste - Wave of hops. Citrus. Maybe a bit monotonous, but good. Slight sweetness before it becomes overwhelmingly bitter.

Mouthfeel - No alcohol and not a lot of sugars in it. Not enough malt to overcome the intense bitterness.

Overall - The flavors are good, if a little one-note. Far too bitter in the finish, but otherwise nice.

Wonderful lacing, good head retention. Caramel colored.

Faint citrus/melon smell.

Well balanced, very little booze heat. More caramel/Vienna malts than anything. Hop presence is nice, not over powering.

Wow really creamy. Low carbonation, I like!

Very unique mouthfeel made this one for me. Highly recommended for DIPA fans looking for something a little different. Thanks beerandraiderfan!

A: poured an orangish amber brown in color with yellow highlights and had a very thin head leaving very little lacing sticking to the glass.

S: had a very nice piney citrusy hoppy aroma with some candi sugar, grassy, and sweetness from the malts but had faint mango and hints of booze.

T: the piney character was more apparent on the taste with hoppiness and citrus grapefruit that made most of the bitterness alongside grassy candi sugar accents but with a touch of booze.

M: the brew was light to medium in body with a moderate amount of carbonation which had a sweet, piney, hoppy, citrusy, and bitter finish that lingered on the palate.

D: definitely a west coast style hop bomb with a good hop profile and was a little bit more difficult to drink due to the bitterness factor.

Pours an orange colour with decent haze, but fairly transparent. Head is off-white, and nice and fluffy with a whipped character to it. Lace looks like eyebrow prints regularly placed around the glass, and it's all very pleasant.

Nose is very hoppy. Very hoppy indeed. Lots of citrus, lemon zest with pineapple and sherbet - plus a healthy malt base that's very nutty in character. Pine nuts and wood - mildly sour, spicy with pepper as well. Really, really pleasant aroma.

Taste is quite IPA-esque (der) and pleasant. Nice and malty upfront, nutty with almons, pecans and caramel. Hops take over midway, nice and bitter with citric notes and nice floral characters as well. Bitterness is resinous but has a very nice floral lift to it to get it out of the dank. Nutty and fruity, citric and floral. It's ideal IPA territory here - balance is pretty much on the money, bitterness high but not overwhelming.

Full, bit of texture, bit of bite. Quite drying but never goes overboard. Just noticeable on every front.

Yeah, great IPA. Oomph - check. Flavour - check. Bitterness - check. Balance - check check.

This bottle arrived yesterday courtesy of BrewerB. Thanks Brian!

This one pours a nice and very clear burnt orange in color with a two finger, off white soapy head. The nose is hoppy, of course, but actually pretty a balanced for a DIPA. There is a moderate amount of Chinook with a touch of Citra and a bit of rye malt. There is also a decent amount of alcohol. The booze is a big detractor. The flavors are bright and hoppy with a fair amount of malty sweetness but then a lot of alcohol in the finish and after taste. You can definitely pick out the Citra but the other hops kind of muddle its regular crisp citrus character. I get a good amount of both Columbus and Cinook. Again, there is just a lot of present alcohol. It drinks dry and sticky and as stated, it shows its 9.5%. I can see why this would be popular but compared to other widely available options, I wouldn't pick this one up again.

Thanks to JLindros for sharing this up at Tree House. Poured into a small snifter. Reviewed from notes.

A - Pours a clear golden hue with a quarter inch head that fades to leave a light thin blanket and light side lacing. Minimal wisps as well.

S - Quite nice and inviting bitter hop resins here. Light malt backbone.

T - Lots of resinous pine here and subtle sweet malts. This is a solid DIPA here with a good pine. That being said, its fairly one dimensional.

M - Mouthfeel is good, nicely carbonated and super drinkable considering what it is.

O - Overall this was a solid DIPA, however, there are in my opinion much better DIPAs on the market.

Thanks to dfernandez77 for this beer, among other West Coast goodies that arrived shortly ago. I'm feeling hoppy tonight, so let's go. 22 oz. bottle split with my wife.

Pour is unfiltered light orange, not full of sediment, but not clear, either. Nose is a ton of bitter orange juice, with a backdrop of a generic tropical location. Very, very faint metallic undertow that detracts a touch. Hope that doesn't make it into the taste.

Hopocalypse brings a rucksack full of malts to a hop party, & in this case, I'm prejudiced. Huge bready hops that weren't hinted at in the nose bring a Fat Tire experience, & loads of caramel tailgate the bread. Hops are strictly average, with a low OPS. Soft tropical fruit with a half-hearted bitter kick right at the end that sticks around in the aftertaste. And there is that exposed wire taste, too, faint but present. For all that, it's an interesting beer that is sippable as all get-out.

When you make a beer with a name like Hopocalypse, you better bring hops that make my asshole pucker, & this isn't that kind of beer. Maybe HopBrushWar, or HopPoliceAction. Ultimately, this is a beer that's too balanced for me. Pretty good brew.

Pour is transparent golden amber with a tight white head. Nose is bready malt, faint grain, lots of oily resinous hop aromas, pine and faint citrus. Taste is extremely oily, tons of hop resins, syrupy fully body, moderate bitterness and a steel like taste through the finish.
