Poured on tap at Jupiter into a 16oz pint glass. I was happy to be able to try this, as in the entire East Bay I've never seemed to find this one available on the shelves.
Pours an oily looking IPA on tap, with an amber-orange color and a head that is frothy and thick, but sadly doesn't stick around for to long. A ring does remain for the remainder of consumption, but carbonation was definitely present enough throughout. Some lacing sticks to the glass, but not as much as other oily hoppy beers that I've had from this brewery. Still, it's a terrific color, and it definitely will look its best in its freshest condition.
The aroma is an immediate, familiar cascade of Nelson Sauvin hops, which are always slightly tropical and herbal when used to their advantage - and this here is no exception. Wonderful notes of passion fruit, papaya, grapefruit, and light peaches immediately rush to the front of the nose, followed by a large piney flavor. Notes of green pepper and green onion abound, as well as a pungent earthiness from the oils. There's a sweetened toffee backbone here, but it's all extremely green and the hops are truly working their magic in the manner that I know and love Drake's for. Dank, pungent, but super breezy overall.
The flavor is delicious - a little bit more one-note than Aroma Coma, but probably more enjoyable in terms of its build and flavor profile. Big grapefruit, passion fruit, and blood orange flavors are in full force here, which meld with pine and light green peppers. Very astringent but extremely green, with notes of grass and oregano at the finish. Light toffee and caramel creeps up at the end, but it serves as a backbone to the enormous hop profile, aromatically and texture-wise - nothing more, nothing less. Excellent carbonation and build on this one - it feels very juicy, fresh, and very pleasant to drink overall. The flavor is not as complex as other offerings of theirs, but it's still quite delicious.
Excellent stuff from Drake's once again - their seasonal offerings never seem to disappoint. I'd imagine this would fall off a cliff rather quickly, so the sooner you consume, the better. I believe I like this even more than Aroma Coma - less experimentation here, but it's a great, solid offering that knows what it wants to be.

This pours a glowing light amber/orange color with generous foaming that leaves laces. It has a zesty, spicy, tropical aroma from the New Zeeland hops. It’s vibrant and dynamic and fresh smelling with a great tropical fruit flavoring as well. I found some guavaberry and a touch of papaya on the back end coming across in layers. The beer has an upfront bitterness that finishes dry with a touch of pine. So good I had to get a second pint.
