Doug generously opened up this 22oz bottle today, 10/15/2013. Poured into a Three Floyds' teku glass.
Pours a dark, opaque black body with a straightforward light brown head that falls into the beer fairly quickly. A little bit of lacing, looks like a real thick treat.
Smells like a roasty stout to be honest. Lots of chocolate, roast malts and coffee in the nose. I do not get much spices in the nose, and I definitely do not get any pumpkin here.
As far as porters go, this is pretty darn good. Roast malt sweetness provides a nice consistency to the palate here, with some dark chocolate and coffee bitterness balancing the beer out. Again, I get very little spices, and definitely no pumpkin. But you know what, on its own this beer is a very good porter.
Thick, medium bodied porter with good carbonation and smooth, creamy drinkability. Mild alcohol burn is felt on the backend.
Where's the pumpkin at? The spices are faint, which makes me wonder if Doug got an old bottle. At the same time, the base porter is delicious. This is one brew I'd like to revisit fresh, yet I would still recommend trying this beer in its current state.

Yum! I loved this beer. Just as advertisd- pumpkin, spice, and cocoa nibs. You get a nuttiness from the cocoa nibs as well as a bit of chocolate, some nice creaminess and almost a meatiness from the pumpkin, and it's all complemented by some nice pie spices. This a seamlessly integrated beer. Each component playing beautifully off of the next. Great beer.
