Poured from 22oz bottle. Many many thanks go out to Lukafer for busting this out at the tasting. It was I think my favorite of the night.
A- Pours a black color. Red hues when held up to the light show on the sides of the glass. One finger deep darker tan color that has medium retention. Light capping and skim on the top of the beer when all is said and done. Streaky lacing on the sides of the glass when I am drinking it.
S- Nose of this beer has many different things going on. Roasted malts in the front of this blend well with cinnamon and nutmeg. Chocolate malts with hints of darker fruit come in second place in the nose. There is some light pumpkin in the ending along with a light bitter hop.
T- Some light roasted malts with a lot of nutmeg, cinnamon, and allspice blend well in the front. The chocoalte malts come in with more roasted malts which give off a little dryness in the middle...and a hint of alcohol helps this. The ending of the beer shows more of the roasted malts and a nice light bitter hop bite. This beer is a well balance between pumpkin and porter flavor wise.
M- Medium mouthfeel. Carbonation is a little lower which helps the overall mouthfeel I think. Light roasted malts and a ton of pumpkin spices left on the palate. Roasted malts some light pumpkin spices and warming alcohol are long into the aftertaste. Medium drying on the palate from the alcohol. Flavors are very well blended...most I have ever seen in a style like this. Crisp and clean flavors overall.
D- If I could I would drink the shit out of this beer. This has to be the best pumpkin ale I have had to date. The ABV is well hidden until the ending but this even is blended well into the other flavors. This is the first beer I have had from Midnight Sun. Looking forward to trying some other standout beers from them.

Yum! I loved this beer. Just as advertisd- pumpkin, spice, and cocoa nibs. You get a nuttiness from the cocoa nibs as well as a bit of chocolate, some nice creaminess and almost a meatiness from the pumpkin, and it's all complemented by some nice pie spices. This a seamlessly integrated beer. Each component playing beautifully off of the next. Great beer.
