Notes/Commercial Description:
Free spirited Panty Peeler Tripel pours rambunctiously into your glass, releasing its engaging aroma. Curacao (bitter) orange peel and coriander create a beautiful yet bolder tripel by infusing color, citrus and spice. Belgian yeast adds playful character. Bottle conditioning assures a perfectly heady experience.

Brewed as a Belgian tripel but with American boldness, Panty Peeler is delicious yet spirited. Originally named Extreme Polar White Bier, it got nicknamed "Panty Peeler" along the way. Then we translated it to French for a while: Épluche-Culotte. Now we're back to calling it Panty Peeler and we've kicked up the coriander and orange peel to represent its original design.

Smell is abrubtly coriander based, but other things, like cherry pits and freshly felled white maple trunks suggest themselves, and a raw sourdough background is noticed as well.

Appearance is really nothing too special, particularly. Below average head, golden straw color. It could be anything.

The coriander is the loudest player in the band of flavors as well. Tart orange peels lend bitterness and balance to this tripel and keep it from going utterly bread roll. There are some unconsumed sugars lurking about that which cause it to lean precariously to the side of cornhusk at a couple of vulnerable moments.

Mouthfeel is a bit on the heavy cumbersome side for the style. Some more CO2 would have helped both mouthfeel and flavor distribution.

Still, pretty drinkable. The orange peel tartness really saved the day. If not for that, it would have definitely been needing in the hops/CO2 department in a desperate way. Instead, it is quite enjoyable.

In a snifter at cellar temperature, but of course.

This one has a fizzy one-finger white head that's gone in seconds, and it's color is a crystal-clear, radiant tangerine orange. Numerous carbonation streams flow to the surface.

It smells like bread, orange zest, bananas, pears, cloves, coriander, and maybe a little earthy nutmeg. I really like the orange that come through.

What a sweet flavor profile! At first there's a light clove and banana taste, transitioning to a more zesty orange spiced up with the coriander and subtle nutmeg. The drier and more astringent orange peel turns up in the peppery finish, with a delectably sweet, doughy breadiness eventually taking over the aftertaste. An awesome herbal bitterness kind of hangs around all the while, balancing the sweetness. Superbly-concealed alcohol, I might add.

The feel is done just right, I think. A full medium with some vivacious carbonation.

I've baked rich white breads infused with citrus zest and spices, and that's precisely what this reminds me of. It's a very unique tripel, endowed with citrus, spice, and everything nice.

The color is pretty close to authentic Belgians, but a bit more orange. Not clear, a bit cloudy, the color isn't bad, but this beer is seriously lacking in head. There's almost none even with a vigorous pour and the little bit that's there has no retention. Each swirl leaves a light spotty lace.

It's got an Earthy scent, and both the coriander and orange peel are well represented. I can't pick up any malt presence and Belgian yeast is not there, at least in the smell.

The taste is where everything comes together. The coriander and orange meld perfectly with the candied sugar and yeast to give a really pleasant taste that would quench my dessert fetish.

Easy on the palate, it's got a citrusy sweetness that never goes overboard. The sweet and acid play nicely with the funky yeast strain. Reasonably high ABV is well hidden behind all the other stuff going on. There's more carbonation in the finish as it closes with a slight burn and some faint heat and bitterness lasting til the next sip.

It's a nice treat overall. There are some rough edges that need to be smoothed a bit, but aside from the look and smell, it's a nice facsimile of a real Belgian.

Pours a beautiful hazed orange color with a cantalope melon hue. Just wonderful to look at. Not a whole lot of lace from my lazy pour and it fell fast to a thin ring. Nose is vivacious and has plenty of exotic tropical fruit. Sweet and juicy. There's a touch of malt that hints at bread and offers just a light sweetness on the nose. No alcohol on the nose, but a nice bit of earthy coriander. The scent of orange is deep within the beer and there is an all around orange fruitiness.

Taste is wonderful. This beer offers a tremendous fruit sweetness with lush and heady tropical fruits and an all around orange flavor too. The malt suggests bread but does not become too heavy or too bready. Wonderful mouthfeel on this that is due to that malt. The coriander is earthy and lends a depth. There is a nice yeast dryness that takes the mid palate just as you are begining to swoon from all that wild tropical flavor. Then it finishes with a sweet and warming alcohol that has a spice and pepper of it's own. A lingering fruity aftertaste.

This beer is a delight!
