Big Fish is their homebrew competition winner, this one brewed by BA's own AKBelgianBeast. I've had a few of his homebrews as well, and to attest to what a great brewer Frank is.
On draught at the MSBC loft, Big Fish Porter is a dark brown with a small tan head that leaves scattered, foamy lace.
Smell is faint at first, dark malt (black patent), light roast and a hint of chocolate, gaining intensity and opening up nicely as it warms.
Taste is great, a very full, satisfying flavor but clean and relatively sessionable. Lightly sweet chocolate is countered by the roast, with coffee notes and a light nuttiness. Huge flavor here, but well integrated.
Mouthfeel is pretty creamy and soft. Medium light bodied.
Drinkability is good, a well made robust porter, with a nice dark flavors but still keeps it light enough to quaff liberally. I was really surprised to find out how high the ABV was, it's a really smooth drinker in spite of the big flavor, making it quite dangerous. Well done Frank, congrats!
