Poured into an IPA glass from a bomber. No date on bottle.

Color was gold with a slight haze and a thin white foam. Lacing was not bad for a wheat beer. Aroma had some tropical fruit and sweet grainy malt. Flavor was sweet grainy wheat on the palate followed by intense bitterness. Some citric hop flavors fight with the sweetness before giving way to a bitter, dry finish. Body is light to medium, carbonation is moderate to high.

Overall, this beer had both very sweet and very bitter characters. It's hard to imagine both extremes, but it has a strong sweetness at first followed by a bitterness that is borderline astringent.

22oz bottle served in a little hotel tumbler. Brought in a suitcase to Japan from Washington. Bottle code/date not found.

Pours hazy yellow with a slight amber hue. Little to no head, little clots of foam drifting about like icebergs. Small amount of fine, fast carbonation. Smell is hops, maybe old ones, some hay, some orange/citrus.

Taste is strongly bitter, does not have the stale hops flavor I was fearing. Definitely some of that orange/citrus. Heavy bitter aftertaste.

Mouthfeel is light, smooth, slightly slick, slightly flat. Overall, it’s not bad. I’ve had much worse beers. It’s better than the Asahi I had with dinner.

Hazy dull gold with a small white collar leaving very light scattered lace. Murky.

Smell is hoppy, bright, dank and resinous.

Taste is more so hoppy, a sharpness. Very nice. I think the wheat is more clouding the appearance than anything. No graininess.

Mouthfeel is medium light, oily.

Drinkability is good, a solid, big bright IPA. Not sure that the wheat did anything discernible behind all those hops, but it sure was good.
