Entering this one in as a new beer .... Please move it if it is a rebrand. Picked this up today at Brewforia... Bottled in the "5th" week of June for the UberFreshness!!
Poured into my small goblet... 1" white head sticks around for a bit then dies back to a healthy cap... pretty good lacing... The brew is a hazy deep golden with an orange hint.
Big and gnarly pithy grapefruit up front... plenty of pale graininess but it doesn't really stand up to the hop assault.
Bitterness is pretty abrasive... very pithy ... the bitterness grabs hold and really doesn't let go until 10-15 seconds after you swallow.... very dry throughout.... there is something there that I can describe as grain, but it is not malty at all.... very dry... The only thing that really changes is something on the finish that reminds me of pineapple maybe or some kind of tropical fruit essence and that is only delivered after the bitter blast finally melts away.
Good body for a DIPA... carbonation is pretty much expected... given the body though, I still envision more of a maltiness after every sip... but the next sip still delivers a wallop of bitterness again and again; I'm not one to ever complain about dry IPA's, but wow.... this one finishes bone dry and is nearly as much from front to back.
Pretty interesting.... glad I got a chance to try this one, and it is a great beer for late night summer lawn watering.
