Meet the brewer at Beermongers, 2/17/2012

A: Dark amber with trails of tiny bubble. No head, as expected at this monster ABV.

S: Nose is more like a quad than a barleywine. Candi sugar. As it warms, the brandy notes become apparent. Not terribly complex or interesting

T: Raisin, brown sugar, oak. A hint of grape, but the brandy character is faint. Smoother than the standard treatment. Definitely an alcohol bite, but less than you'd expect at this ABV.

M: Low carbonation. A bit thin in the mouth (more attentuated than a typical barleywine to hit this ABV, I'm guessing), but keeps a little stickiness in the finish.

O: I'm glad to have gotten a chance to try one of the very few kegs of this, but I have to say there's nothing amazing here. It's good and tasty, no flaws, but not a lot of complexity either. (827 characters)
