The mooses tooth is an anchorage staple for great food and good microbrews. It was a quaint little place at first, then became a constantly packed little place. They just finished the new addition a year or so ago, and it has been less crowded since but still draws quite a crowd. The service is great for how busy it is. The microbrews are good but are very american in style, and they dont do much branching out. The cool feature is that there is a first tap of a new style each month. However, i think if they put that effort into trying some belgian style brews or anything other than american styles they would be much better. The brews are good but are very typical. I wish they would try some barrel aging or some strong ales. That is in my opinion their biggest weakness. Their strength is defenitely the food. Especially the blackened halibut pizza, and the lemon salad. their better brews are the pipeline stout, prince william porter, hard apple ale, and the raspberry wheat. Great place to take the family as well. The ambience is very neo-hippie, but in a good way.

Place is always packed so expect a wait. Often can't even get a solo seat at the bar. Overall vibe is nice with beer themed decor, but it's really a pizza place that brews beer, as that's the main focus. Decent selection but could have a few more taps to try the specialty releases. Only a couple on tap at any given time. Service is decent but the wait is always long so that could be improved or add a brew focused section that's more tasting room, less hotel eatery in Midtown.

Great beer. Awesome pizza. Like the best I've ever had. Can't say enough about the place. Ridiculously crowded but worth the wait

This is a great pizzaria and brewery. Their selection of craft beer is excellent: their pizzas unique and yummy.

My fav is their fairweather IPA and pretty much any of their pizzas, thin crust, creative toppings, and very funky milieu. Very Alaskan and very popular. There is always a buzz and crowd there.

Visited on June 25, not long after arriving in Alaska. Getting here was ugly - who would've guessed Anchorage would have traffic problems - but we were reassured by locals that the 5:00 pm "rush" hour is intense but only lasts about 15 minutes. We had about a 45 minute wait for a table but many people in the waiting area were drinking pints and I enjoyed a couple myself to pass the time. This is a great place for someone just arrived to get a sense of the Alaskan lifestyle. Lots of people in knee high rubber boots, people standing outside drinking in the rain not giving a damn, everyone wearing outdoorsy clothing, overall a jovial and boisterous crowd. The pizza was fantastic and the beer was very good (especially liked the Pipeline Stout and Fairweather IPA) with around 10 taps. I like to think of Moose's Tooth as Pizza Port of the north - just like Pizza Port screams California, Moose's Tooth screams Alaska!

Stopped in for lunch while in Anchorage on a tip from some locals. Its a nice place and got busy in a hurry around lunch time. We got there just before the crowd on July 4th.

Pros: Nice atmosphere along with very good beer and really good pizza. We especially liked how they were conscious of food allergies on their menus. Moose's Tooth kind of had the family friendly vibe to it. I will say this place is not to be missed while in Anchorage. Great!

Cons: If you are driving north along the sterling highway, it can be tricky to get there (as it is right off the south bound side of the highway). Other than that, none that I can think of.

Stopped here for lunch today and a growler fill. This is in my opinion one of the most consistently excellent beer and food venues in Anchorage. The pizza, for me, is the standard against which all others are compared. Make that the gold standard. Menu also features an array of tasty appetizers, salads and soup.

Pair that pizza with their craft brews and you have a winning combination. Moose's Tooth brews a variety of beer styles. They have an excellent IPA. Some of their others are quite good as well. There is a stout, porter, ESB, amber, brown, hefeweizen, and a few more. Each month they also have a first tap brew which is a unique one-off creation.

The atmosphere is always good, comfortable, and welcoming for just about any crowd, including families and large groups. This place is consistently busy and the service is good. Sometimes you can wait a little for the pizza, but nothing outrageous.

Value is very reasonable. You are paying Alaska prices, but the value, compared with other venues in town, is quite good.

Alaska was a second home to me. They take their bears veeeery seriously, and almost all the breweries there know what they're doing. We lived quite a few hours away from Anchorage and made monthly trips there. Everytime we passed through, we made sure to stop here, we made it a point to pick up few growlers. The hard apple and the Rye pale ale are aah-mazing. The food is incredible, and every month they do a first tap party featuring a new beer and a great musical guest. I stopped in and saw Cake live and for the event they had made a choc cake bear, FUN! If you're ever in that area, do yourself a favor and stop by.

Stopped in here with the lady after a trip into the Midnight Sun. Needed to see the place and get some grub as well. Pizza you say?!
Well we walked in and moseyed on up to the bar. Seemed like a reasonable thing to do. Pretty cool bar, lots of Moose's Tooth taps, like 10-12. Bartender very friendly, poured me a couple tasters, our waitress was as well. We ordered some beers and sat and enjoyed them -- a one off Smoke in Your Rye, and then the Pipeline Stout before trying the Tooth, their classic amber. All were delicious in their own right, and the Tooth perhaps the best amber I've ever had, loaded with Centennial hops.
The pizza was delicious, and the pizza menu was massive as well, a full page of options.
Dug the vibe, the beer and the food. Kudos my good people.

My two experiences with the Moose's Tooth were pretty similar. On both a Sunday evening and a Thursday evening the wait time was an absurd hour to two hours (which I was told by my Anchorage hosts is typical). The atmosphere was decent- standard rustic Western/cabin style, but the place was so crowded that the wait staff was getting visibly irritated having to push through the throngs of people loitering for tables.

Foodwise, the pizza was good both times and I thought they had a nice selection both of pizza varieties and other fare. The beer was decent, but not worth seeking out. Most of the beer styles were toned down to the point that they really didn't hold up well next to the food.

All things considered, a decent experience once you were served, but not really good enough to justify that kind of wait in my opinion.

Visited on a Friday evening in January and the place and its parking lot were packed. We were fortunate to snag a table in the bar area. Tried most of the beers and liked all of them--especially the smoked porter. They were not quite as adventurous as Midnight Sun, but far more so than Glacier Brewhouse or Snow Goose/Sleeping Lady. We were in town on business, and the folks with whom we met said Moose's Tooth had the best pizza in town, and it didn't disappoint. I just wish it weren't so far away from Virginia.
