I love this place! I visit it about three times a month. You are going to be waiting in line for a table most of the time, especially around dinner time and on the weekends, but it is well worth it. The atmosphere is very laid back and hippie-ish. The pizza is the best I've ever had! They have some odd selections but they are awesome. My favorite is the spicy pepperoni. The beer is also great. They brew several different styles and come out with a new one every month for a limited time. I haven't tried them all but I have liked everyone I've tried. I love their porter and their stout. I have never had a problem with the service. Moose's Tooth is a great place and a must stop if you are in the Anchorage area.

Alaska was a second home to me. They take their bears veeeery seriously, and almost all the breweries there know what they're doing. We lived quite a few hours away from Anchorage and made monthly trips there. Everytime we passed through, we made sure to stop here, we made it a point to pick up few growlers. The hard apple and the Rye pale ale are aah-mazing. The food is incredible, and every month they do a first tap party featuring a new beer and a great musical guest. I stopped in and saw Cake live and for the event they had made a choc cake bear, FUN! If you're ever in that area, do yourself a favor and stop by.

This place is a small pizza place on the east side of Anchorage. The beer selection is impressive, and so are the beers themselves. The brewhouse special pizza is, literally, the best pizza I have ever had anywhere. Only drawback is that the place is always packed. There is not a lot of waiting, though, and there is a bar stacked with tons of taps to sample while you wait. Definitely a primary destination in Anchorage if visiting or a local for that matter.

On a recent trip to Alaska, the Moose's Tooth was hands-down my favorite eating and drinking establishment (and let me tell you, after ten days of locally-recommending dining, and craft-brew drinking, this is high praise). The pizzas are all delicious, from crust to toppings, and are fresh and inventive. Appetizers are standard pub fare, but are accomplished with aplomb. This place really shines on the beer front, though. With more than a dozen house brews on tap, and with $5 tasting flights (a steal in high-cost Alaska), there is something for everyone (and everything for a lucky someone with a few meals to eat in town). Notable brews include their ESB, their rye ale, the the (im)famous Pipeline stout. Come hungry, come thirsty, and come with comfortable shoes, as the dinner wait for a party of four can be up to an hour (which is fine, since the bar is always accessible, right?)

The mooses tooth is an anchorage staple for great food and good microbrews. It was a quaint little place at first, then became a constantly packed little place. They just finished the new addition a year or so ago, and it has been less crowded since but still draws quite a crowd. The service is great for how busy it is. The microbrews are good but are very american in style, and they dont do much branching out. The cool feature is that there is a first tap of a new style each month. However, i think if they put that effort into trying some belgian style brews or anything other than american styles they would be much better. The brews are good but are very typical. I wish they would try some barrel aging or some strong ales. That is in my opinion their biggest weakness. Their strength is defenitely the food. Especially the blackened halibut pizza, and the lemon salad. their better brews are the pipeline stout, prince william porter, hard apple ale, and the raspberry wheat. Great place to take the family as well. The ambience is very neo-hippie, but in a good way.

I stop into Moose's Tooth everytime that I stop into Anchorage. I'm a New Yorker with a taste for good pizza, and this place has a wide variety of odd yet delicious pizza. They don't deliver, but you can order and pick up. There's always a 30 minute-45 minute wait to be seated on the weekends, but it's well worth it. Now, onto the BEER!

The beer is top notch in my opinion. Order a sampler, or order them by the pint. My personal favorite is the Alpenglow Amber... a delicious delicious brew. Also, the Rasberry Wheat is a great fruit beer that still reminds you that you're drinking beer. Add this to the laid back hippie atmosphere, and you have a place that it great to eat pizza and drink GREAT beer.

Stopped in for lunch while in Anchorage on a tip from some locals. Its a nice place and got busy in a hurry around lunch time. We got there just before the crowd on July 4th.

Pros: Nice atmosphere along with very good beer and really good pizza. We especially liked how they were conscious of food allergies on their menus. Moose's Tooth kind of had the family friendly vibe to it. I will say this place is not to be missed while in Anchorage. Great!

Cons: If you are driving north along the sterling highway, it can be tricky to get there (as it is right off the south bound side of the highway). Other than that, none that I can think of.

Grade: A
