From 02/15/14 notes. Not sure if this beer is really much different from the 100% "normal" kriek, but saw the listing so oh well. Picked up this Bio version in Paris, France in June 2013, bottle is dated 23 October 2012. Poured from a 375ml bottle into a wine glass. There was some liquid above the cork and the cork was degrading, but thankfully the beer was still ok.

a - Pours a deep ruby red-pink color with two fingers of dark pink head and moderate carbonation evident. Looks fantastic, love the way it looks.

s - Smells of sour cherries, fruity malts, spice, light pepper, light funk, oak, must, earthy notes, and brett. Light citrus, very nice nose that is fruity and sour.

t - Tastes of sour cherries, sweet and sour dark fruity malts, spice, light funk, oak, earthy notes, pepper, brett, and light vanilla. Taste has a little more spice to it and is lightly sweet to go with the sourness.

m - Medium body and moderate carbonation. Lightly acedic.

o - Overall a very good kriek. Love krieks and love Cantillon, so no surprise I loved this one. Lots of sour cherries with light funk and citrus, crisp and easy to drink. Don't notice a big different from the normal kriek but very good and worth seeking out.

2013 bottle

Appearance: Pours a deep, gorgeous cranberry, with 2 fingers of volcanic fizzy pink head.

Smell: Tart cherries, funk, green apples, cranberry and perhaps a mild touch of horse blanket. There is definitely a vinous element

Taste: Not too much sour here, but quite fruity and a bit tart. It's basically a semi-sweet cherry blast with a dry, tart finish. Definitely not very sweet or sour, but this is very young, after all.

Mouthfeel: Light bodied with medium carbonation. Very drinkable, as expected.

Overall: A drinkable and refreshing brew. Need to get my hands on older vintages and get get a little more sour.

Thanks to James for sharing this one.

A: Hazy ruby grapefruit in color, white head that dissipates quickly.

S: Cherry, and almond, with oak notes, vanilla and spice.

T: Tart and acidic, with oak, almond and an almost cinnamon flavor. Finish is tart fruit and cherry pie.

M: Dry. Bone dry with super high carbonation. Finish is puckering.

Bottled on 10/26/13.

Pours translucent bright magenta with a 1/2 inch light pink head that quickly disappears completely and leaves almost no lace. Impressive.

Smell is of sour cherry, funky yeast and white grape.

Taste is of tart cherry, unripe dark fruit and a hint of vinegar.

Texture is light bodied with medium carbonation.

A very refreshing and delicious cherry lambic. Pleasantly tart. Outstanding.
