Notes from t'Brugge beer bar. 375ml bottle poured vigorously into a Cantillon gueze glass. Vintage june 5th 2012.
A-Beautiful pink/red with pink/white head that lasted a while.
S-Cantillon funk, cherry, sweet off-wheaty aroma. Light faded hops.
T-Lemon, dark cherry upfront, funky, hay and cherry pie. Yeasty dough. Finish is pure cherry.
M-Heavy carb. Very sour. Off-dry with huge tart finish.
O-Gotta love a fresh fruit lambic.

375ml corked bottle poured into a Duvel tulip.
AP: Dark purple/red colour, but when held directly in front of the light it's shade is a cross between strawberry and pomegranate. Started with a 1.5" fluffy light pink head that was bubbling thick foam which settled down to 1/8" with light lacing on the sides.
AR: A little ACV, a lot of Belgian barnyard funk, plentiful tart/sour cherries, musty damp wood, grape and apple skins. Beautiful mixture of aromas here.
T: Nice clean crisp flavours of apple cider, sour/tart cherries, grape skins, musty oak, barnyard funky yeast, green apple skins. They all blend harmoniously together in great balance.
M: Mild carbonation, acidity on the tongue is just about right, crisp and leaning towards dry despite the best efforts of the cherries, clean lip smacking cleansing finish.
OV: I love Lambics, Sours and Wild Ales and this is a superb offering. The flavours were in near perfect balance with each other, nothing dominating. Nothing really complex about this brew, but when it's so well crafted like this it doesn't need to be. Just delicious and rewarding, a true treat.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a Cantillon tulip. Purchased at Yankee Spirits in North Attleboro, MA.
Appearance - Pours a bright cherry colored, slightly hazy body with a light red, huge gushing, fizzy head that reduces quickly and leaves no lacing.
Smell - Has a sweet and sour aroma, fruity cherries, some funkyness, red wine.
Taste - Upfront there are big sour cherry notes, lactic, berries, red wine vinegar. The follow through reveals some sweet notes and a nice oaky aftertaste. Leaves a tart taste on the tongue.
Mouthfeel- Super crisp and carbonated.
Cantillon never lets me down. This was a lot more sour than I was expecting, in a good way. An excellent example of a world-class Kriek. Must try for all Belgian sour fans.

The more I drink this beer, the more I like/love it. Very sweet cherry flavor, as much like a wine as a sour, but the sour does come through in a big way. Gets better as it warms and certainly well made. Oak flavors add to the complexity and enjoyment. If you're into craft, you gotta give the best lambics a try, and this is one of them. Me likey.
