Bottle @ brewery.

I prefered the raspberry based lambic. Found the cherry flavors more cough/syrupy sweet, with less of the salty tartness. More dark cherry flavors, more my preference, I could see how others would enjoy this though. Everyone needs to sample cantillon brews, this one included.

I had this on cask at Moeder Lambic Fontinas.

Appearance: Pours a Cloudy red with a layer of pink head that fades to a ring around the glass.

Smell: Natural tart cherries with a mild sweetness. Sour and funky in the background.

Taste: The cherry flavor is so natural, more so than from the bottle. Smooth cherry tartness, not very sweet, tart, bitter, and sour in the finish.

Medium body with mild carbonation and a finish that goes from slick to dry.

Overall: I loved the real cherry flavor. My wife who doesn't like sours ordered one after having mine. So smooth and easy drinking.

Enjoyed in a snifter

A: pours a hazy light red verging on dark pink with a three finger head which is light pink in color and is very fizzy with fine bubbles and dissipates rapidly, leaves absolutely zero lacing
S: very tart and sour scent notes with nice cherry sweetness and a bit of an odd after note which i would compare to sweaty gym socks
T: pretty spot on for the style but i definitely see that note of sweat socks from the scent come through just before taking a sip, nice tartness and cherry notes, doesnt quite have the sweetness that i have seen and so enjoyed in other kriek lambics, i think lindemans was just a touch more drinkable but this one is still very solid, im also finding a slight cinnamon note which lingers on the palate long afterwards
M: gentle carbonation tingle, definitely awakens the palate nicely and finishes with a slight dryness which is wholly different from the dryness seem from hops, almost more of a chalkiness than anything, also, just as i had assumed, i have heart burn haha
O: pretty much what i had expected to find here from cantillon, a well executed and well rounded lambic which is pretty much spot on, as i mentioned before, this is not my favorite kriek as i think lindemans beats is out nicely with more sweetness and drinkability, still a wonderful lambic and im very happy with my $25 investment here

The aroma is fantastic and of deep sour cherry. The fruit just hangs in your nose and is so thick. My favorite aspect of this beer.

The cherry onslaught continues from front to back in the flavor. Needless to say the tartness is powerful and sticks with you. Quite refreshing. The acidity is also in your face. The funk flavors are subtle and well below the featured cherry.

Very light and again refreshing. Delicate in body, but bold in flavor.

I have to be in the mood for this stuff but when I am, it’s a fantastic beer.

Thanks Patrick and thanks to my wife for indulging my pilgrimage to the Cantillon Brewery.

375ml bottle. Dated: November 2010. Poured this into my Lost Abbey tulip.

A: Pour a beautiful reddish pick color. Crystal clear. Two fingers of pink head. Tight fluffy bubbles. Great carbonation.

S: Lots of funkiness. Tart cherries, but also some of that acidic citrus hidden behind it.

T: Lots of tart cherries. But so much cleaner than the Hannsens. Bitterness on the tip of the tongue then nice mid palate sweetness from the cherries. Really clean dry finish.

M: Light to medium.

O: A. Really like this. Understand how good people say it is.

Half of a 2011 375ml bottle poured into Hill Farmstead stemware.

A: Hazy rose color. A little swirling causes some pretty intense bubbles.

S: Has a musky barnyard odor complete with some seriously funky cherries, and squeezed lemon.

T: A good amount of funk. Sour cherries dominate. Easy to go down.

M: Very dry with a high level of carbonation. Taste sticks around for sometime and alters the taste of anything else I come in contact with.

O: I enjoy this beer, but tend to lean towards the American wild alternative to Krieks like Consecration (especially aged). However, the Lou Pepe Kriek is one of the best beers I have had the delight to try. I'll probably sit on my other bottle of this for a few years and see just how sour it gets.

Chilled bottle poured into tulip
2010 vinatge
375 ml bottle

Color: Hazy, but yet a vibrant and deep reddish/pink. A nickle thick white head appears after the pour and this beer leaves behind minimal lacing/retention.

Nose: Big time sour cherries followed by that unique Cantillon funk. A nice oak profile rises from the glass along with all those barnyard smells associated with Belgian sours.

Palate: Sour, fruity, balanced, and complex. This beer is extremely drinkable for how funky and tart it can be. Cherries invade your mouth followed by some woody textures and dryness. The abv is this beer is not evident at all making the mouthfeel incredible and full if taste.

Finish: Dry and sour. Cherries abound and the complexity of this beer is superb on the back end. Truly an amazing fruit lambic/

Bottled Dec 19, 2011

A - Pours a slightly hazy orange/red with one finger of light pink foam. Head dissipates quickly but maintains a small cap.

S - Aroma is mostly tart cherry, with only a mild funk presence that increases as it warms up.

T - Tart cherry, but also a bit of sweet cherry, with mre funk in the taste than I got from the aroma. Also, some faint green apple and lemon. Funk maintains through the finish.

M - Light, crisp mouthfeel with some prickly carbonation. Finish is cleaner than other Cantillon fruit lambics I've had, with only a faint lingering earthy bitterness.

O - Very tasty and refreshing kriek. I look forward to seeing what a few years in the bottle does to this.
