375ml bottle poured into an oversized red wine glass.

A: It pours a beautiful golden straw color with two fingers of frothy white head. The head recedes quickly to a small white blanket and it leaves no lacing.

S: The smell is really sour/tart fruit up front, lemons, apples, and grapes. That is followed by a waft of barnyard funk and some oak barrel. An absolutely great smelling gueuze.

T: Starts with a nice puckering sour kick that smoothly transitions into the flavor of the fruit. The brett makes itself known as I swish it around in my mouth, the oak surfaces as well. There is an earthy element at play that hints at hay and dirt. This beer is expertly blended as all the flavors just fade magnificently into each other.

M: As a swish it in my mouth it feels light and lush. It makes the beer feel much bigger than it actually is. In my opinion the feel really elevates the overall experience.

D: One of the best brews I have had in a while. I have been on a hops hiatus and the sour world has been a pleasant surprise!

750mL bottle into a Teku
Vintage 2011

A big thanks to joshwith for sending this one over in a trade!

A: Pours a somewhat hazy golden color with 1.5 fingers width of white head. Head dissipates down fairly quickly and leaves effectively zero lacing.

S: Lots of tart lactic acidiy, and an equally big lemon-lime citrus. I also get oak, vanilla, fruity esters, some floral notes, and subtle melting plastic like funk. Awesome.

T: Funkier than the nose, with that burnt plastic like character. Next I get a fair amount of citrus rind and lactic tartness. Pretty sour, but not to the degree of some Gueuzes or other Cantillon's Ive had. I also get a pretty big degree of floral notes, oak, some sweet citrus notes, and some bitterness. Tartness builtd throughout the drink. Theres a very nice flavor of oak and fruity esters that linger forever in the aftertaste. Great complexity, and really tasty beer.

M/D: Medium body, carbonation is moderate but lower than most examples Ive had of the style, fairly drying on the finish, and drinkability is very good.

O: One of the standards of the style, truly a classic.

375 ml Belgian flag bottle poured into Cantillon balloon glass. Pours hazy gold with a thin layer of white head that persists through out. The nose is loaded with character. Fresh cut grass and hay come first along with bright lemon zest that cuts through the funk. Speaking of funk, notes of earth and hay linger strongly through out with an obvious tangy ness present as well. Taste starts with huge wave of citric acid, lemon zest, and tartness. The tartness sets the table for the earthy funk. Notes of hay, oak, and cork come through towards the finish with some peppery spice notes. Super complex, different notes come to the front with each sip. Mouthfeel is highly carbonated with light body. Overall, a very enjoyable brew. Super funky with a nice dose of tartness as well.
