Plastic cup.

A: Pours a pale color with a finger of snow white head, fizzling out quickly to a sturdy, fluffy ring. Effervescent in a champagne-like way. Very good retention, generous lacing, and very good clarity.

S: Lots of barnyard funk up front, very prominent but not overpowering. Sweaty socks, dry wood, hint of herbs, sweetish candy, grass/dirt.

T: Medium-high sourness, lemon, mild funk, hay, a little sweetness but finishing quite dry. Not as much complexity as the nose.

M: Medium-light body and high, sharp carbonation.

O: A reference for the style. Very good but doesn't blow me away. 3F is easier to find and at least as good. A nice reward for finishing packing.

I’ve had this so many times and many different vintages. I will rate the best examples I have had like I have with Drie Fonteinen Geuze.

1998 vintage 750mL courtesy of Puzzl at Cantillon day at Spuytin Duyvil in Brooklyn, NY. It pours a cloudy light orange almost amber with a thin, white head that leaves little lace. Looks like melted butter in the glass. Aroma is funky, sweaty, tangy sour, full of citrus complexity. Taste is watery at first, not too intense, moving to full lactic sourness, lemon yogurt, feet, and finishes very spicy, sweaty, oaky, and massively sour. Really complex if you give it a chance to warm up. Palate is zippy, peppery, lemony sour, full of lactic yogurt. Easy to love. 9/20/2010 8/4/9/5/16=4.2

1998 vintage 750mL thanks to Turdferguson at RBSG 2011 in Philly. The pour is similar looking to Loerik with a clear to hazy neon peach color and scant white head formation. Nose is completely insane. Just nothing comes close to this one: wild amounts of sour peaches, sweet oranges, fresh grapefruit, and soft sour funk that has no spice or vinegar. Only fresh citrus and unreal amounts of it. Perfect aroma. Taste is leathery and sharp with mild sweat and bitter grapefruit. Excellent, soft, leathery palate. What an insanely amazing treat. If you have ever dreamed about what Loerik tastes like, this is it. They are both 1998 batches and have aged very similarly. Thank you Sam! 6/3/2011 10/4/9/5/18=4.6
