Gueuze-a-palooza 10/8/11; poured into an E&J Cask & Cream glass
A) Quite clear with a reasonably bright hue. One finger head fizzles to a slight layer. Pretty color and nice clarity.
S) Pleasantly restrained aroma with enjoyable subtleties. Very clean for a gueuze. Soft tones of oak sit atop. Apple and pear mix with citric hop notes. Hints of grass and a floral suggestion. Faint earthy undertones round it out. Musty without being particularly funky.
T) Tastes tangy and tart with crisp apple notes. Quite fruity. A good swirl or two draws forth funky tones of musty oak, antiques stores and cheese. Dry with a tart, sour twinge throughout.
M) Dry, light and crisp feel. Carbonation is higher than I prefer but it adds some crackle that manages not to trump the flavors.
D) Perhaps not the most proper take on the style, it is very tasty and does subtlety full justice.

thanks for knocking this beer off my wants list Steve!
poured into cantillion wine stem. #properglassware!
Appearance- straw pale yellow bodied beer with a huge soft fluffy white head that has a decent amount of staying power. really elegant looking beer especially when sitting in a cantillion wine stem.
Smell- I can smell this as soon as a little bit of this beer is poured in the glass, don't need to even put my nose into this beer to know it smells great! immediately you smell 2 things... that trademark cantillion funkiness and that sour lambic twang! hint of floral and earthy hops. also smells fruity like white grapes.
Taste- mild tartness. moderately funky. minimal hop presence even though this beer is dry hopped. honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way. as this beer opens up the funkiness goes through the roof and it begins to have a vinous quality in the flavor profile like that of a white wine. really and interesting and nuanced beer by cantillion.
Mouthfeel- light bodied beer with moderate carbonation. spritzy and delicate. it also feels so very fresh. the mouthfeel of this beer reminds me of spring. super easy drinking and really refreshing. premium mouthfeel as always when speaking of most all cantillion brews.
Overall- I wasn't really sure what to expect of a dry hopped lambic, but I am here to tell you this over exceeded my expectations very much so.
