A: Soft, thin looking, very little head, rose petal like color, pinkish
N: Dank cellar-like funk, wet cement, musty some medicinal qualities; lots of assertive tart flavors like lemon peel, granny smith apple, very tart sour raspberries, vinous, grape vine but like almost herbal, earthy suggestions; suggestions of wood, oak and shoe leather.
T/M: This vintage is seriously, teeth-chattering, knock you down sour! I have had this fresh and it's like night and day. The younger Gambrinus had more juicy fruit character. This is more acidic, vinegary, but as the beer warms more of the stone fruit qualities break through; very tart sour raspberries, strawberries, a jolly rancher quality that leads into candi sugar in the back the palate as the beer leaves a thin finish. Some mineral water, seltzer water, some over-carbonation; slick, oily mouthfeel like red wine.
D: Wow, wouldn't be able to drink much of this even with food! I prefer the fresh Gambrinus, much easier on the palate. Try w/ tart nutty cheese and salamis.
