December 29, 2010. 375ml corked and capped green bottle into a tulip glass. Really classy label and I love the new cantillon caps.
A - Dark red with some purple tints. Super clear pour. Looks exactly like a raspberry. A sudsy, off white head did form and dissipate quickly leaving behind just a little bit of edging. Tons of carboantion and bubbling going on.
S - Raspberries. Spot on. Really fresh raspberries picked from the woods or something, this stuff is the real deal. Just the slightest hint of oak and funk, but its really toned down. The fruit is on full display here.
T - I decided to drink this fresh to get the full raspberry flavor, but I almost wish I held out a bit longer since I'm a fan of the funk and musky lambic notes. The body is actually fairly light and spritzy, really high carbonation. Taste is of sour raspberry, lemon rind, and just a hint of oak towards the end. Mouth puckering, but no funk in the taste.
O - The best raspberry beer/framboise I've had to date. This is a really solid cantillon brew, but it didn't really live up to my expectations. Perhaps if I can find another bottle I'll enjoy it more with some age on it.
