Pours a sort of peachy red near the top of the Tulip glass with orangish amber in the center. The whitish cap was light and fizzy, lasting a minute at most. Ultimately, there's a thin, broken film of the surface of the liquid and no lace.

Aromas begin with like a strong raspberry cider vinegar. Quite lactic and berry forward. Sour green apples and tart fruit throughout.

The tastes begin with big, dizzying blast of intensely sour, mouthpuckering acidity with a hint of unripe berries. Unripe raspberries, Sauvignon Blanc, balsamic vinaigrette, light earthy/woodiness. That's all the free association I can muster, you'll have to pay for the rest. Light funk, hay, with a huge array of various stone fruits, vinous white grapiness and the obvious solid raspberry/blackberry linger on the palate.

The mouthfeel is light and crisp, with a medium level of carbonation. There's enough going on in the mouth that I don't need crazy-ass bubbles firing all over the damn place. Finish is slightly tart and mouth puckering throughout the finish.

Overall I enjoyed my first personal bottle of Cantillon. Nice and sour and tart and dry and balanced to be honest. Lightly tart, sweet and acidic which is everything you can ask for in this style. While lambics aren't my favorite style by a long shot, I can appreciate the extreme quality of this beer. I will definitely be searching out for other quality offerings from this famous brewery.

Poured from 355 ml bottle into Duvel tulip. Enjoyed during a pretty solid Cowboys v. Dolphins game on Thanksgiving 2011.

Appearance: Pours a fruit punch like color with a light frothy two finger, bright, growing head. Minimal to no lacing.

Nose: Ohhh tartness shines. Smell wonderful, sort of vegetable like and bright fruitiness. Raspberries and a mild oak come through.

Taste: This puppy is all raspberry. Very enjoyable. Bright flavors of raspberry (and I know Raspberry, the Keweenaw is a Haven) and some nice oak spice coming through. Bit a of creaminess balances out the super tart fruit.

Mouth: Lively carbonation, filled with a nice level of acid that provides some fun drinking.

Drink and overall: Overall, a real nice fruit beer. Honestly, I don't think it's better than Blushing Monk. I feel like Blushing Monk, although not the same beer obviously, provided more of a well rounded raspberry flavor. Good Cantillon, definitely no where near the top though.

375 ml bottle. Bottled on 21 March 2011. Pours a cherry red with a light pink head that has good retention and leaves a small amount of lacing on the glass. The aroma is raspberry, cherry, some brett funk, light lemon, and some lactic acid. The initial taste is tart with raspberries and some brett funkiness. Then comes some cherry and some light lemon. The finish has a decent tartness and some brett funkiness. Medium body. Medium carbonation. Another really enjoyable Cantillon beer.

A: rosy, pink champagne-y head, lots of bubbles

S: nice and funky, some raspberries and fruit in the background

T: more gueze-y than kriek-y, nice lambic yeast, not a lot of fruit apart from a slightly juicy finish

M: light bodied, a little watery, the only real drawback

O: had this on tap recently and it was a lot more smooth and fruity a lot less watery and sour
