750ml, bottled 2007, poured in a big wine glass at 56 F/ 13 C.
Striking bright golden color with a bit of haze, minimal white head that eventually disappears entirely, no lace.
Very tart aroma, like sourdough. White grapes are certainly there, but I wouldn't have identified them immediately (or maybe ever) if the label hadn't clued me in. Some flowers, honey, tart peach and apricot, a bit of vinegar, and just a touch of overripe/almost-rotten fruit funk, in a good way.
Tastes quite sour, with just a smidgen of sweetness that manages to balance it out. Tasty fruit, along the lines of stone fruits and white grapes. The fruitiness isn't intense, but it's right out in front, there's not much else going on except a good dose of acidity. Those two elements are well integrated and complementary, so it works well. Some very mild bitterness, barely discernible.
Nice tiny bubbles; soft cushy carbonation along with the prickliness of the acidity, like the two sides of some Velcro getting freaky with each other. Quite refreshing, and the more I drink this and become acclimated to the acidity, the more refreshing and enjoyable it becomes.
