I bought this 2010 Lambic at the brewery on their open brewery day last spring.

Orange, slightly murky, not carbonation or head at all!

smell is leathery, fruity (apricot?), funky

taste is sour and tart

completely flat, light but not watery, some astringency towards the end

This is not my favorite Cantillon, because it shows less complexity than a blend as in a Geuze and I do miss the carbonation. However, it is still a Cantillon and it is always nice to experience a brew from this magical place.

750 ml bottle. Lambic Bio 2010. Bottled November 25th 2013. Served in a Cantillon Iris glass.

Appearance: Pours a copper orange color with no head. A very thin white ringlet does form around the edges of the glass. Body is mildly hazy with light amounts of fine suspended sediment.

Smell: Hay, barnyard, white grape, oak, green apple and some acidic sourness. The aroma is mild at first but opens up more as the beer warms.

Taste: A pleasant mild sourness hits the palate right away and carries through to the finish. Lots of oak and cheesy funk character along with barnyard, lacto, pear and a bit of lemon.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied with a slick, oily mouthfeel. Fine carbonation is very low but noticeable enough to keep the beer from feeling totally flat. Finishes dry.

Overall: Another excellent beer from Cantillon. While the sourness is low by Cantillon standards, this one is hugely funky and complex. It really provides a similar drinking experience to a good wine. This one doesn't get the same the same amount of love as their other offerings, but it ranks right up there with most of Cantillon's other regular offerings.
