This pours a deep, vivid purple-red colour with a foamy, pink head. Decent head retention for a wild beer.
Great funky aroma with underlying notes of lemon, apple, barnyard and cherry. Very good.
Smooth and tart yet complex and balanced. This starts off with a prominent tartness (not sourness) which is accentuated by the Shaerbeek cherries, a moderate funk note also comes through with an underlying sweetness. The finish is tart and dry with a lemony note which really works.
Medium body with some real fullness to it balanced by moderately-high carbonation. Good.
A really solid beer with lots of flavour but true balance. Another well crafted beer from Cantillon.
