2011 Vintage brought back from my trip to Belgium.
A: Beer pours a hazy orange with a white head. Kinda looks like a DIPA.
S: Woo boy, this smells incredible! Fresh apricots mixed with lambic funk makes for an amazing aroma. Neither smell really overwhelms the other and they coexist perfectly.
T: Taste follows the smell almost exactly, it's a wonderful mix of fruit, funk and sour in the finish. It's not overwhelmingly anything, and the flavor as a whole doesn't overpower. It's actually a bit subtle, but delicious.
M: Light-medium bodied with moderate carbonation, though something about it makes my tongue tingle.
O: I've had Fou' Foune a few different times (2010 bottle, on cask), but I think the 2011 is the best experience I've had with it yet. This is what a fruit lambic should be, where the fruit and lambic flavors really coexist almost perfectly and complement one another.
2012 vintage addendum: The 2012 isn't as fruit-forward as the 2011 was, but is a lot more sour. It still maintains the apricot flavor, but it's more mixed in with the other flavors than out front as it was with the 2011.
