After getting my throat (and later my ass) torn apart by a '10 Kriek, I've decided to give this a go to see if history repeats itself. 2008 vintage.
3.5 A: Lightly hazed plum color. Just about two fingers of barely pink soda pop head that falls quickly and leaves no lacing.
4.5 S: Already I know I'm in for a much better experience. Tons of vinous grape with blueberry and blackberry just behind and perhaps a touch of cherry to round things out. Lots of musty funkiness with barnyard notes as well. Small oak contribution. Good balance between fruit and acid. Good bit of fruity lactic acid with just a hint of acetic acid. Very nice.
4.5 T: A good bit of sourness in this, but the acetic acid isn't overabundant. Again lots of grape with nearly as much cherry. The berry twins have taken a bit of a backseat in the taste. Plenty of barnyard and musty funk. This is loaded with tangy lactic acid. Complex and well balanced.
4.0 M: Lighter medium body. Good active carbonation. Lightly creamy and smooth.
4.5 D: Good beer. Definitely sour, but not intestine twisting. After the Kriek yesterday I had a few rounds of the quick step, but I don't imagine there will be an encore performance tonight. Solid all around.
