Though this place is a little out of town, Honolulu's selection of homebrew shops equals that of NYC (one apiece), and I think this joint is better than Homebrew Too in Queens (the only other homebrew shop I've ever been to).
So far, everything I've gotten from HSH has been of good quality and fairly reasonably priced (especially considering that he probably has to pay more for shipping than any other US homebrew shop). The only thing that ends up being pretty expensive is the LME, which is priced at $2.45/#, which adds up if you're doing big batches. Maybe I'll save some money by switching to all-grain :)
I was reasonably surprised by their wide selection of grains by the pound. You can grind it on premises. Decent hops selection, too, though it's all pellets. They probably have about 20 types of White Labs Yeast (though a few are for mead & wine) in the cooler. Lots of little gadgets and additives -- they also carry winemaking supplies (though I don't think they sell the grapes).
The guy who owns the place was pretty helpful, though he was no expert, and he hadn't tried all the recipes in their binder. The woman made me a little icepack to keep my yeasties cool on my bike ride home.
Overall, a decent homebrew shop, especially given the fact that we're in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.
