Just tried Lion Imperial for the first time and it is the finest Pilsner I have tasted sence leaving Europe in 1993. A fine beer that I would recommend to anyone full taste and body with nice amber color. The minute it hits your mouth it brings back the memories of what fine beer is suppose to taste like.

[Suggested Glassware: Pilsner Glass]

The pour was a clear golden yellow with an average (1-2 finger) white fizzy head that was mostly diminishing with poor spotty lacing.

The aroma was lightly sweet with a light grain malt, floral and grassy hops and a sweaty yeast and had notes of caramel, honey, a slight fruity ester (apple I believe) and a mild medicinal scent.

The taste was lightly sweet and very malty with light hints of caramel and honey from the start, and then had a mild taste of hops slowly work in to the mix with the finish having a mild fruity alcohol presence towards the end. The flavor hung on for an average time proceeding the swallow, with a slight alcohol sweetness and a more pronounced hoppy grain flavor that was left to linger on the taste buds.

Mouthfeel was a bit beyond light in body with a light syrupy texture and a medium carbonation.

Overall this was a somewhat sweet fruity brew that had a good hop and grain taste along with a bold alcohol presence. Basically this was a tasty Pilsner with a kick...

A - Pours a color similar to apple juice. Slight white foam does not retain. Minimal lacing.

S - Smell is of light malts, honey, and earthy spices.

T - Flavor has a vibe of spice, sweet honey, and exotic grains. Actually I was a bit surprised about the complextiy of this one.

M - Good drinking beer to pair with food. Light enough to be sessionable.

O - I'd try this again. Who knew Sri Lanka made a decent beer.

Strong, malty aroma has a sweet, fruity overtone and a hint of honey. It pours a lovely clear amber with a fairly thick white head. Sweet, malty flavor is almost like a cider, but has a good alcohol bite and just a hint of hops. Smooth texture has firm body but lacks fizz. Overall, a nice robust pilsner.

not my favorite. pours clear yellow golden color with a short white head. smells a little off, really malty, but extracty and sort of shallow. some floral notes as well. flavor is strange and long lasting. starts with a bit of pale malts, then a one or two second applejuice flavor, sweet/tart/sugary. finish is clean, but the alcohol comes out. feel is thick in te mouth, even though the beer doesnt have a ton of body. kind of syrupy. you can also feel the strength of this beer. im not waild about it because it tastes off a bit and the feel is uncomfortable a little bit. not even close to as good as the stout.

A- Good 1/2 inch of sticky white head. Clear bright yellow with tints of orange.

S - Smells of pilsner malts and slight apple or pear. No noticeable hops or ABV.

T - Wow like a good malt liquor I get smooth sweet taste of apple like malts with a pear after taste. Just enough hops to be beer. Remember this being better...

M - Light to medium. Easy to get bombed on!

Overall for 10 bucks a sixer it's easy to drink but I seek more body or flavor from my beer. Was nice to find it again to try two years later.

Edit: Man the bottle is hella heavy! A lot of glass for class!

A: Pours a slightly hazy pale yellow with light amounts of visible carbonation. The beer has a finger tall white head which reduces to a ring of bubbles at the edges of the glass quickly. Light to moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: The aroma is very sweet with hints of apple juice and light amounts of malts.

T: The flavor, like the smell, is also relatively sweet with malts, apple, corn, and grain, There is no detectable bitterness or hops and the beer could really have used that to balance it out.

M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation.

O: The alcohol is somewhat covered up by the sweetness of the beer. This beer is not great and not bad, not something that will become a regular in the fridge for me but it is easy to drink.

A: The beer is clear deep yellow in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high white head that died down but consistently left a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface.
S: There are light aromas of apple juice and sweet malts in the nose.
T: Similar to the smell, the taste has flavors of apple cider and a bit of sweetness.
M: It feels medium- to full-bodied and a bit viscous on the palate and has a low amount of carbonation.
O: This beer definitely tastes strong but the cider-like sweetness helps to cover up the alcohol, although it seems to be a little too sweet.

Lion Imperial Premium Malt Pilsner - a product of Sri Lanka with 8.8% alcohol by volume. It poured a mighty orange, much like the lion on its label, with a small sudsy white head. The smell was mild - faintly sweet malts and grassy hops. The taste was again mild - a bit of apple, grassy hops, and sweet malts. The alcohol was just slightly noticeable. It was smooth, mellow, light, and crisp. Not offensive, but not super flavorful. Fairly well-balanced. I wouldn't go out of my way to try this again.

11.2 fl oz bottle served in a pint glass -

A - Pours a murky golden color. The head is 2 fingers, but fades fast. It's thin and white, and generally unappealing. Head retention is excusable considering the high abv.

S - Honey, sweet pilsner malt, alcohol, and candy. The aroma is stronger than I expected, and has renewed my interest.

T - Cereal grain and light malt predominate. Doesn't even approach the sweetness the nose predicted. A bit watery, even. Finishes a bit on the bitter side as the alcohol coats your mouth.

M - Crisp and incredibly dry on the finish. Accentuates the lack of any true, distinguished flavors. Extra light bodied.

D - Not a fan of this one. It's abv is apparent (although this doesn't affect my review), it lacks any distinguished flavors, and it's not sessionable. Not an ideal light lager ( or pilsner, I guess?).

Bottle into pint glass
A – 3 finger almost white head, while fizzy still had nice retention, a slightly hazy golden with brown notes, scattered lacing to a pillow layer 3.5
S – Mildly sweet malts and a blend of herbal citrus grassy characteristics, slightly astringent 3
T – An off citric sweetness, mild alcohol, finish becomes a dark sweet bread like menagerie of tastes that leave me hanging, infected bottle crossed by mind, did not enjoy 2.0
M – light moderate body, a bit thicker than I expected, no vote on if the ample carbonation added or detracted 3
O – An odd tasting malt pilsner I will not seek out again, characteristics of cider, unless you seek this style I would not recommend, finished the bottle and won’t be returning 2.5
