Fantastic. Smells like bubble gum - the kind you used to get out of a pack of baseball cards..."original" flavor. Very healthy bubbly white head. This, like Paulaner's hefe, is to me, the ultimate example of a hefeweizen. Its like a combination of all the perfect qualities of a hefe and a witbier combined. Its light, extremely refreshing, smooth, absolutely flavorful, and has no abrasive qualities that are usually present in american hefeweizen attempts. Anyone with any appreciation of craft beer would have to respect this beer, and it would also be a perfect possible introduction to the world of craft beers.

My absolute favorite beer. Pours beautifully. Looks citrusy. When you swallow you taste banana, when you exhale you taste the bread. Just an impressive brew.

The foam was almost white, smooth, foamy, non-lacey and stuck around till the end. The smell had a dominate wheat aroma. The Color was a gorgeous bright honey. The taste - excellent - dominate wheat pils taste with hints of a fruity undertone, yet kind of creamy. Mouthfeel - beautifull goin' down. Drinkability - smooth and complex like most other German beers. I recomment it!

This is the beer I judge all others by. As a hefeweizen purist, this is not only my favorite beer without question, but it also represents the best of the breed.

Serving type - Bottle
Preferred consumption type - Ayinger Hefe Glass
Appearance - Golden Blond Beauty, Small White Bubbly Head
Aroma - Fresh Bannana, Mild Spice
Flavor - More Fresh Bannana, mild spice, finishing with more of a Bannana Bread or ripe Bannana Flavor
Texture - light Bodied with the perfect amount of carbonation to allow the flavor to dance across the palate with a silky / near creamy finish.

This is the beer to savor everyday. Remember, Life is Short - Drink Good Beer!

500 ml bottle, poured into a tulip glass at approximately 45 degrees F.

A: Pours a beautifully cloudy deep straw gold, and forms a spectacularly frothy head of tight white bubbles. The head alone leaves lacing down the glass as it recedes, and so too the beer itself, in sheets of tightly-entwined froth that slowly split apart to slip down the sides of the glass in small patches. Columns of tiny bubbles can be seen erupting continuously from the bottom of the glass, only to vanish about half an inch into their ascent, obscured by the cloudiness.

S: A rich bouquet of wheat, fruit, and spice greets the nose from the glass. Banana, apple, pear, and honeydew melon skip along arm-in-arm, amidst softly, faintly bready wheat, while clove and coriander cavort alongside.

T: Bliss. So much fruitiness, packed into a single beer without overdoing the intensity or going over the top. No one flavor leaps out, but instead, all seem to hit and subtly dance and shift about in unison. All the fruits from the aroma are present, all rolling through the backdrop of silky wheat to precisely the same degree, with exactly the right amount of spice from the clove and coriander notes. A hint of a citrus tinge rounds out the flavor profile. Delightful.

M: Light, airy, and lively, this hefe sparkles across the palate and tongue, yet manages to avoid having the carbonation sharpness appear in the taste.

O: This is, to me, the perfect hefeweizen, and quite possibly the perfect beer - flavorful yet subtle, complex yet approachable, refreshing and intriguing, able to be drunk quickly or sipped and savored. I have no idea how Ayinger works this sorcery, but I am eminently pleased they do.

The best hefe out there IMO. Beautiful in every way. Slightly more yellow than most hefes, and this is what I look for in Belgian witbiers as well. If you see it, buy it. It's like making out with a mutant angel born without teeth. Also excellent out of the bottle. I wish it came in 6 packs in my area. $3something a 500ml persuades me to buy $8.99 Weihenstephaner 6 packs instead.

One of the best beers I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing.

Ordered at Pazzo's Pub in Lexington, Ky.

A-wonderful yellow color with small head that stayed throughout most of the drinking process

S-wonderful smell, very banana like

T-Very sweet flavour, seemed to have a mix of banana and other fruity flavours, but not the the extent of other fruit beers, still felt like i was really drinking a beer

D-could have drank this one all day long...

Since it is National German Beer day today on 4/23/14, then of course have to celebrate that with a good German brew! Comes in a 500ml (16.9 oz) single bottle. Bottle chilled down to 36 degrees F in my beer cooler and poured into a handled glass stein. LOTS of sediment in the bottle of the bottle.

Pours a hazy honey-orange in color with a good 2-3 finger white foamy head that settles down to about good 1/3 of a inch and lasts a decent amount of time. Spotty lacing is seen. The aroma is very pleasant and is of lemongrass, yeast, and bananas. The taste is even BETTER with lots of great flavors mentioned above that blend together perfectly with a hint of lemon zest as well. perfect carbonation and goes down easy. No bitter or harsh aftertaste at all! Perfect brew for anytime of the year.

Quite possibly the best hefe weizen I've ever tasted... Even though they sell 4-11.2 oz bottles for $6.75, which is kind of steep, this brew is definitely worth every penny... Out of a smaller than the usual 12 oz bottle poured a nice off-yellow strawish color... The taste is superb, with a beautiful wheat, citrus aroma predominating and a wonderful banana / lemon flavor that really hits home. The taste is what really makes this beer straight-up awesome... This is definitely one of the greatest brews out there on the market... Would definitely recommend this one without a doubt... If you are a fan of the style, you simply must try this one at least once...

Simply the best Weiss bier I've had since actually being in Munich.

Smells like a fresh weiss bier, and pours a hazy yellow color with a 2 inch head.

Hints of banana and slightly tart/sweet wheat, this beer tastes exceptionally smooth.

This is an extremely drinkable beer to enjoy all the time!

Pours cloudy golden color with beautiful white head.

Nose is typical banana clove, with more clove than usual. Citrus & bread are present as well. The aromas come up like fresh bread straight from the oven.

Palate is a somewhat light bodied, highly carbonated, with fresh bready banana clove, maybe some papermill or other industrial flavors as well (in a good way). Light, refreshing hefe.

Excellent example of the style, but not the best imported Hefe-Weizen I've sampled.

A- pours a picture esque 2+ finger head cascading over the top of my weizen glass with a nicely cloudy body providing ample carbonation. The fluffy velvety head is slow to recede and some nice lacing.

S- Obligatory banana, clove, bubble gum, yeastiness with a nice touch of grains. Wow... what a nice long finish.

T- Initially some very nice yeasty clove action but gives way to some nice hopiness, and a nice tart finish.

M- Med+ carbonation but I think it really works in the case of this wheat beer. The finish on this is long.

D- What a fantastic wheat beer. I'm a sucker for any German wheat beer and this one certainly delivers. Drinkable, absolutely..

Tasting notes from throughout 2009, 2010 and 2011. I've been drinking this one in a Weizen glass for years now.

A - Nice light golden Hef coloration with nice clouding yeast in the glass.

S - Cloves, banana, lemon, straw, yeast, and that fantastic wheat scent. Spices really come through with more sniffs. I could smell this one for days, honestly.

T - Huge explosion of flavor that is not only typical, but above and beyond what is expected from a Bav. Hef. Big clove and Banana flavors mix with a light maltiness that make this the perfect summer beer. Very clean on the palate and easily drinkable. Lemon takes over in the finish, which really evens the flavor out. This is a big bodied beer, though still light on the tongue like a good Hef should be.

M - Clean and easy with just a little chunkiness from the yeast left in the bottle(adds to the flavor. Great beer for hot summer days. The German's really know what they are doing with beer.

O - Man this is a great beer. Really easy to drink and has a fantastic flavor that is very complimentary with many different foods. Definitely a good beer to have with a big dinner since it isn't really filling in the stomach.

Absolutely delicious. Pours like a dream a cloudy yellow with a billowing white head. Smells of bubblegum and bannana with touches of the spicy clove. The taste is a pure phenol delight with slight blossom of citrus in the finish. Substance of body with but still enjoyable light. Drinkable is not even the word.

These Volks make my some of my favorite bieren.

A: Straw yellow with white translucence. One finger head that fizzles down to a nice sheen with bits of lacing here and there.

S: More clove and fresh mown hay than banana. Like the countryside of Bayern.

T: The sweet wheat is balanced very nicely with a bit of a lemon-grassy tartness. Ends in a crisp Hallertauer hop dryness.

M: Perfect medium-light tart. This is Wuotan's lemonade.

O: A great beer.

Wow! What can I say? This is the second time that I've had this Ayinger weiss. The first time was in Rotenburg, Germany on Tap! This time was in a bottle that I purchased at Binny's in Chicago. With the obvious banana and spice overtones, what makes this brew exeptional is the mouthfeel.

During the middle of the winter, it is always great to look forward to great summer brews like the Ayinger.

I had this beer at a local german restaurant. this is definitely a good beer, especially with german food. It was served at a perfect temperature... had a nice 1-2 finger head.... smelled as you would expect.... it was the most perfect compliment to a fine german meal... I couldn't get enough.

A little sharp on the mouth, but I like it! Great colors and head, must give it some time to rest in the glass. Fruity and still so much depth to the flavor. This is another great hefe from Deutschland! No imposter here, just a great food and "just because" beer. Very very refreshing and easy to drink. I like the slight vanilla aftertaste. This is a must try hefe!

500 mL bottle poured into a weissbier glass.

Pours a dense, cloudy orange-tinted straw with a thick, fluffy white head.
Aromas of not-quite-ripe banana and clove on top of yeasty bread. Well balanced on the palate, with the banana and clove keeping each other in check, with just a touch of orange to brighten the overall flavor, and a lingering bready note on the finish.
Light to medium in body, with a quenching level of carbonation, aided by a light citrusy tartness.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 500ml bottle into a tall weizen glass. The abv is listed on the back label (5.1%) but there is no freshness date.

Appearance: The body has an orange/yellow color with a cloudy haze and some visible carbonation. On top I got a thick and creamy off white head. It is long lasting and makes slick lace ring which slowly slide down the sides of the glass.

Smell: The aroma has notes of sweet bubble gum and banana peel with just a light touch of wheat malt.

Taste/Palate: The flavor is not as sweet as the aroma foreshadowed. Tangy wheat meets the tongue first with a light clove banana yeast notes following. A touch of citrus and spicy/leafy hops leads into the finish which is crisp and fairly dry. The firm medium body has plenty of active carbonation give it a lively snappy texture.

Notes: I love the texture and finish on this beer. Some German Hefeweizen beers get a little to slick on the palate but this one is crisp and feels alive with carbonation. Overall this is an outstanding Hefeweizen.

A: Pours a hazy pale golden color. A huge bone white head. Really great appearance.

S: Rich aromas of damp hay, banana, clove and maybe some baked bread.

T: Banana and clove with some wet hay and grass. Bready malts and banana bread on the finish. The mouthfeel is incredibly creamy and has an effervescent feel. Possibly the best he'd I'vr ever had.

By the bottle at home May 2007

Pours a hazy yellow, highly carbonated and and full of tasty yeast.
A thick head for looks that slowly disapates into a fine summer beer by anyone's standards. Scent of bannanas and cloves is very present. This beer full in body but light and crisp on the tongue. Hints of lemon, bannana and bubble gum are present in this fine heffe. All I need now is a fat pretzel and some spicy mustard to finish this expierience. A true German Heffe and a must try by any beer aficionado!

Bought in a pick-six at Collins Mid-town liquor Tulsa, Ok.
A- Poured from a bottle. Beautiful color, Golden straw, some cloudiness...looks delicious! Thin head.
S- Delicious! Hints of clove, very 'earthy'. The smell alone reminds me of Germany.
T- Very balanced, hint of banana bread. Amazing.
M-Creamy, with a dry finish, very pleasant after-taste.
O- I gave this beer a 4.75. But it is by far the best hefeweizen I've had. But I'm holding back the 5 until I find the perfect beer. This beer is amazing. It is a great balance of everything. I highly recommend trying it, and then trying another, and another. haha
