Poured into an Ayinger glass on 4/17/13

Watery, pale dull gold color. Minimal cloudiness since most of the yeast stayed in the bottle. Multitudes of bubbles cling to the glass but aren't enough to keep the two finger head alive for more than a few minutes. Thin, very smooth retention. No lace.

The aroma is clove and noble hop heavy: grass, herbal notes and lemon overtones. For a short while there was a decent lightly-buttered-banana-bread blend, but it almost entirely falls off in favor if banana pudding and meager wheat notions.

The taste is focused on banana and clove, it would seem. Certainly more herbal than fruity. The hops have left their aromatic perch which is probably a good thing. The wheat is clean but not as prominent as I would like. Reasonably dry.

The body is right about medium for the style with ample carbonation bubbling about. The overall feel is good but there is a bit of a coating finish.

This is pretty good all around, but it doesn't seem as robust as the Franziskaner I had a few days ago (which I preferred significantly to the Ayinger). This Aying is definitely lighter and I can understand why that would be appealing.

A - very hazy, unfiltered (good amount of sediment from bottle), pale golden-orange. very white head, broke down very quickly to a even lace covering until it dies away except the rim.

S - Slight banana, yeast smell, touch of citrus thrown in for good measure. Might be getting a touch of sweetness off of it.

T - Light banana and some caramel and yeast notes. Little citrus notes.

M - medium to full-bodied feel with light flavors. nice acidic coating over the tongue that lasts only a few seconds, very light and refreshing. Bubbly at first and then it seems to mellow out over the course of a several minutes.

O - An enjoyable Weiss brau. very much enjoy the slight banana flavor and think this would be wonderful in a bar in Germany with a touch of banana juice added to enhance the flavors.
