500 ml bottle from the Wine Exchange, on to the beer:

There are so many bubbles racing through the body of this beer, you could...I don't know where I'm going with this gag, but there's a lot in this golden straw colored beer. Great frothy head on top that retains well. Good smell too. Its lemon notes are both sour and sweet. Grassy and hay aromas too. Hint of oxidation. I'm psyched for taste this one.

This is one smooth beer and jam-packed with taste. It's impossibe to take a small sip from this beer, I'm taking big gulps. I'm already finished with one-thirds of my beer, and I still don't have any tasting notes yet. The taste dissolves on the palate...malty, lemongrass, bits of hops, lemon tartness, grain. Great balance of the flavors. Spicy notes and a dash a saltiness linger on the palate in the aftertaste.

Wow, this one blew away my expectations to the next county! To its credit, Ayinger Jahrhundert becomes my favorite lager to date, as well as one of the best beers I've ever had. And fortunately for me, it's easily accessable and won't cost me more than $3 a half-liter. Drink and learn fellow BA's, this is what a German helles lager is all about.

Pours very pale, straw yellow, big foamy head, lots of apparent fizziness, nice retention.
Smell of earthy maltiness, a bit sweet, spicy and noble hops.
Spicy hop bitterness from the first gulp, earthy, a bit sulphuric, kinda woody too. Low malty sweetness, very faint fruitiness, some white bread. Finish is rather bitter (a small touch of coins), leaves nice hoppy spiciness in the aftertaste.
Light bodied, kinda fizzy tho. Very refreshing and crisp despite it's bitterness.
Great hops, a great Dortmunder.

Beautiful dark straw, finely cloudy to small degree, a finger of white head that kicks back to lasting cap, and hangs for the ride.

Nice bready/crackery malt aroma with just enough sweet, light noble hop spice, and super tasty, even lighter, aroma of lager yeast.

Get out of town, this is delicious. All the clean aromas are bright flavors in a super tasty sip. There are hints of lemony citrus, a nice hit of spicy hops that isn't at all rooty, but the star is a great flavored malt that is just sweet enough to power a sip that ends with just enough of every flavor to give a delicious liinger. Tasty with capital T.

Very clean flavors, beautiful finish that leaves me longing for another quaff, just the right body to be refreshing and also satisfying.

Great beer I so regret never having purchased the countless times it was within my reach. Highly recommended.

Serving: Bottle into pint
Served: 22 May 2014

Appearance: Crystal clear golden color with nice carbonation coming up from the bottom and building into a great foamy white head. Some lacing, but nothing notable.

Smell: Smells somewhat sweet and malty, slight grassy noble hop aromas.

Taste: Magnificently malt-forward with a huge bready sweetness that finishes extremely dry and bitter from the bittering hops. Fantastic Dortmunder.

Mouthfeel: Effervescent carbonation makes this one spritzy on the tongue.

Overall: Another great beer from Ayinger and one I would highly recommend to lager lovers everywhere. This is a magnificent beer to emphasize how flavorful lagers can be- the bready bitterness makes this a fantastic beer. Would highly recommend.
