If you enjoy a classic lager, you will enjoy this. However, it does not distinguish itself dramatically from a decent, cheaper, American version.

This bier hits the glass a surprisingly light shade of yellow and very clear in the body. The color is pretty much straw, maybe a little paler, and there is a 2-3 finger head that both retains and laces well. The scent and the taste meld into each other in this bier, starting with a a light malt scent with little to no hops on the nose and moving right into some great light malt flavors on the tongue. There is a touch of hops right after the malts in the flavor, but they are in the great German tradition of being subtle and balancing to the flavor. The traditional aftertaste of German beers is present in this beer, I believe from the usually hard German water. As far as feel goes, this beer is terrifically smooth and light on the palate with a great drinkability.

Overall, this beer is one of the many reasons that I love German lagers. Incredibly delicious, light and easy to drink, and smooth on the palate are just a few of the reasons that the Germans have their reputation for beer, and this beer is stellar on all counts.

Appearance: A beautiful thing. White, rocky, and chunky head with average retention but beautiful form. Crystal clear straw in color. Nice chunky lacing

Nose: White crackers and yeast. A bit of lemon at the end.

Taste: Very faint. There is a tiny bit of spice, alcohol, and crackers. This is exceptionally drinkable. It is very soft.

Poured into a Funky Buddha Brewery snifter. No freshness date.

A- Pours a clean light golden color with a 1/2 inch white head that retains well before becoming a thin ring around the edge of the glass and a half sheet of sheer surface foam. Semi-resilient lacing leaves a broken ring behind.

S- Clean lager smell reminds me of a macro but less offensive. Cracker-like malt with a dash of alcohol.

T- Starts out flavorful enough with more crackerish malt and a slight sweetness but the aftertaste has that "give" in flavor that I don't like. A tad biscuity with the sweetness but everything here is very toned down and innocuous. As a result, it drinks like water. Maybe some faint spice? Could be the yeast.

M- Crisp but thin and watery. Medium carbonation and a very light body.

O- A lager done in the proper fashion, but it's still not something I'd like to revisit and surely not a flavor I crave. I suppose, in certain situations (hot weather, beach, sporting event), I would enjoy it's immense drinkability. But I'm really just ticking this to cover the Dortmunder/Export Lager style and move on.
