Deep red-brown color. Excellent showing of head.
Sweet caramelized sugars, bock-y dark fruits, raisin, and dark malts. Bavarian lager authenticity with an intense nose. Even a slight whiff of smoked malt, maybe.
Super malty and rich. Big intense flavors of brown bread, toffee, German mustiness, dark caramel, herbal notes, and minerality. Just a little too sweet.
Medium-light carbonation. Stocky body for a dunkel lager.

On tap at the bier stein the other day.
The beer pours a fairly dark amber color with light lacing and fair head retention. Don't really get a whole lot on the nose initially, but at the beer warmed, I did pick up some nice sweet malt, a light roasty quality and a hint of burnt toast. The flavor profile replicated the nose pretty closely, though thankfully it was a bit more pronounced. Mouthfeel was fairly light, as you might expect, though I wouldn't describe the finish as watery.
Not bad, but considering all the other beers Ayinger makes, it was a bit hard to get too excited about this one.
