Poured into 16oz stange. Poured very lively with a half a glass of tight, white head that dissipated slowly and left very little lacing. Poured a cloudy light/medium brown.

The beer had a grainy wheat aroma with a slight sharp aspect to it. The flavor was similar, no particular aspect dominates the beer. There is a pleasant wheatiness to the beer, with a sharp tang at the finish.

The body was smooth and pleasant, flowing easily over the tastebuds. Drinkability was very good, you could easily drink several of these guys over a period of time. Overall, a very good beer, worth your time.

Bottle purchased from Green's on Ponce in Atlanta.

Pours a cloudy amber and orange color that's surprisingly light for the style but looks pretty good when the light hits it. The head is two fingers of white foam that eventually recedes into a thin cap on top leaving solid lacing.

Smells of loads of bananas, half fresh and half brown, along with smoothly integrated clove aromas. Also present are mild amounts of wheat twang and breadiness.

Tastes similar to how it smells, although not quite as robust. Wheat twang and banana flavors kick things off and are backed by mild amounts of breadiness. Midway through the sip the spices come into play - there may be coriander in there but the clove is front and center. The spices carry through to a solidly crisp ending.

Mouthfeel is good. It's got a nice thickness with grainy carbonation.

Drinkability is very good. I finished my glass quickly and could easily have a few more.

Overall I thought this was a solid beer, although I feel as though it was more of a hybrid between a hefe and a dunkel. Still, well worth a shot.

Pours a hazy dark orange with a light foamy skim of a head. No lacing, no carbonation in the glass.

A musty yeast and banana/clove/orange rind scent. Almost slightly off.

Pow. What a good brew. Tons of banana, sweet wheat, and clove in this one. Would have like a bit more of the toasty end on this one, but how do you complain about this? Not sure I could differentiate this as a dunkel and a hefe, but still wonderful.

Needs a bit more zip. Mildly carbonated., but light bodied enough to allow the flavors to shine yet not even be close to being cloying.

Very very easy drinking. Wish I had a nice roast pork loin to chew on right now. Absolutely worth trying.

Poured a dark copper/bronze color with a moderately fizzy white head. Pretty strong carbonation is apparent. With the finish of the bottle it became very cloudy with all the yeast.

Aroma is very inviting with strong bready notes and yeast character. Very sweet malt notes present

Taste was more "hefe" than expected, with the typical banana like flavors and sweet malt flavors. Very little of the darker roasted notes that would be expected with a dunkel.

Mouthfeel is certainly bubbly with all the carbonation but also a nice round feel to it. Drinkability is rather high and is probably one of my favorites for this style.

Smell: clove and citrus, slight banana

Taste: Great. Amazing summer beer. Not summer hot like I need a Coors Light just to re-hydrate, but a fantastic spring/summer sipping beer. Banana, clove, citrus give way way to dryer bite.

Mouthfeel: sharp but mellow on the end

Drinkability: Excellent. Could put these down all day while sitting outside people-watching.

Recently discoverd this style at Buchowski's tavern in Boston. The maltier version of a heffe and I must say the balance really works well. I almost prefer this style to a heffeweizen. The color is a light brown with intense carbonation. The aroma and taste are all about the yeast baby with notes of bannanas, slight citrusy note, and the malts balance it out at the end. I really like this beer and brewery. Highly reccomend

The pour show a lot of carbonation as it sports a valley of a white head and endless bubbles. It shows several hues of orange and red.

Spicy clove nose and caramel, subdued, but in the background.

Soft, clean palate, a big resemblence to a standard hefe but with a hint of caramel malt and a little more body. Spice isn't as dominate in the taste, banana is out and about.

Not loaded with flavor, but what it does, it does well.

From a .5L bottle. It pours a murky light brown. Head didn't linger too long.
The smell is sweet banana bread.
The taste is also banana, no cloves. There is a small bitter finish.
This beer has a decent creamy feel. It is extremely drinkable. Another great beer form the guys in Aying.

Poured from a 500 ml bottle into a wheat beer glass. Beer is brown and hazy, forms a thick off white head that falls away quickly leaving no lacing on the glass. carbonation is moderate to high and steady.

Aroma is strong banana, and fading other esters overall. Could have been bigger but overall good.

Flavor is a little muted. Beer is thin and drinkability is fine. There are some nice ester flavors that pop up in the later palate. There is almost no carbonation on the tongue, odd. Mouthfeel is OK. I feel the sweetness should be earlier and better connected. There is a mild wheatness to this beer but overall a very good and drinkable beer.

A - Cloudy, dark-orange amber. Foam reminds me of a meringue.

S - Like simple syrup and banana

T - Slightly fruity at first, like banana, and a nice bitterness in the end. At times I find that it gets bland? Numbing, if anything.

M - A spark of light carbonation, especially at the tip of your tongue. Goes down dry and a bit grainy.

D - Pretty drinkable, but I don't mind nursing this a bit and pair it off with finger food.

Poured from 500mL bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: nice tawny-orange color with a little haze to it. Not as dunkel as some other dunkelweizens I've had. Poured with a large fizzy head which subsided rather quickly.

Smell: very nice wheaty-citrusy aroma; I feel like there's a hint of some roasted or caramel malt as well, but it's very subtle. Overall, pretty enticing.

Taste: flavor is quite good with a lot more caramel than I expected from the aroma. Light, refreshing wheat flavor; very low bitterness and hop flavor is almost indistinguishable.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a high level of carbonation yields an excellently creamy mouthfeel.

Drinkability: a highly drinkable and refreshing brew. This would pair great with a sunny day.

Pours a hazy dark orange with a small froth head that fades fast. The smell is sweet with yeast, clove, and a hint of banana. The taste is somewhat sweet, with yeast notes, and a somewhat strong banana flavor. The finish is sweet, with a ting of alcohol. The mouthfeel is heavily carbonated, smooth at first with a harsh finish. This one is a nice beer, great flavors, and good depth. Very enjoyable, a well made beer.

Pours into a weizen glass a murky dirty copper color with a billowing thick off-white head that reduces fairly quickly to a thin sudsy film. Very little lacing apparent.

Smells strongly of cloves and yeast, with the citrusy tang and bananas coming through secondary.

The citrus is more pronounced in the taste than in the nose, along with a little alcoholic sweetness and bite of the carbonation. Feels grainy to the tongue, making for a pleasantly smooth mouthfeel. The medium body of this brew make it both easy to enjoy and a good candidate for a session beer.

Tried this one again on 29 Dec. Still in my favorite area- german weissbier. Poured into .5l hefe glass, nice and creamy 3 finger white head that dissapates somewhat, cloudy orange color. Good lacing that follows down the glass. Not heavy on clove or banana- smooth well balanced. Good clean finish. This is another keeper.

Appears a dark, amber toned orange with a white cap that slowly fades into bits of spotted lacing left around the glass.
Smell is of orange, apricot, clove, banana, vanilla cream, and Graham crackers.
Taste is of the aromas with a yeasty, bready, banana wafer flavor coming through.
Mouthfeel is spritzy, sweet up front, tangy, medium bodied, and semi dry.

A vigorous pour into my wizen glass yields a glass half full of head. Even after the warning in the previous review. Stays for about sixty seconds before fading to a half finger, white. The beer is a very cloudy iced tea color, more yellow around the edges of the glass. Thick lacing.

Smells very yeasty, with some cloves, apple, and a fair amount of banana. Complex, but typical of the style.

Sweet and malty up front, with banana, cloves, and coriander. Sweetness gives way to a bit of tartness--sweet apple, really--and warm biscuit. Carbonation is light, which goes well with the fruit-heavy flavor. Very refreshing. Light- to medium-bodied, with only a very small amount of alcohol warmth on the very end of the swallow.

Excellent drinkability; wish I had more than the half liter bottle. I like this one better than the brauweisse by the same brewery. Glad I tried this one; fantastic flavor.

A: A bit too aggressive pour resulted in a quick 50% head. The beer is deep gold with an ivory head. Lots of foamy peaks. Head is incredibly slow to dissipate.

S: Beautiful roasted malts and honey.

T: Wheat up front, citrus, roasted malts round out the taste profile. Maybe a hint of floral hops on the finsh.

M: High carbonation and light bodied.

D: Very drinkable beer, lots of characteristics I enjoy in this one.

App: Dark honey brown, the color of lemonade tea. Opaque with an occasional translucency. Thick crown of foam.

Had this today at the brewery Gasthof.
POurs a hazy, murky light brown tone, murky, thick with yeast, light orange highlights, really nice thick head, leaves lots of lacing.
Smell is beyond my expectations. Spicy peppery cloves upfont, carmel maltines, citrus, banana, fresh hay, musty yeast, all with a really nice malty backing that really rounds out and makes this beer really interesting in that the base malt smell is really solid, and the yeast creates a kaleidoscope of fruity, musty, and spicy flavors.
Flavor does not dissapoint in th least. In fact it matches and exceeds the fantastic aroma Spices- i.e muskatnuss, clove, pepper followed by a nice caramelly sweetness, all cut by a nice carbonation and a fresh, grassy yet musty and spiced finish. Fruits, citrus, orange and banana come into the mix creating that classic hefe-flavor I really enjoy so much.
THe carbonation borders on a near perfection level matched with a full creaminess that makes this beer extremly enjoyable. The complexity of the flavor, aroma, combined with the mouhfeel make me wonder why this brew is not higher rated in the dunklehefe catergory. An extremly enjoyable bier, drink it if you see it.

P: 1 Pt, 9 fl oz (17 oz), European brown bottle, cool creme colored cap, no freshness date
A: Murky copper color with a fizzy white head dissipating quickly
No head retained at all
Smell: A sweet floral aroma of refrigerated banana bread with some baked apples and spices in it.
T: Up front carbonation but not at all brutish, quite refreshing, crisp and smooth. Some fruitiness to it like bananas and apple cider. Some spices I cannot quite grasp, yet. The wheat in the beer is light and welcoming. Little bit of hops barely noticeable. Aftertaste has a sweet flavor of grains and bananas and fruit, like a soft granola bar.
N: goes down smooth and quick, a swiss and tomato grilled cheese on rye would be a tasty sandwich to go with this
Very good

Pours an orangish-amber color with a large white head. Aroma is predominantly apples, with a little malt in there as well. The taste is heavy on the bananas, but you also get some apple. No real hops or malt are present in the aroma. A very flavorful beer that is heavy on the fruit. Good beer.

Appearance:
egg white head, nice full cloudy formation. Retention is almost acceptable. very hazy, brown/apricot color. Can't see through the haze. Looks like apple cider. No lacing.

Nose:
crackers, bannana, red apple, yeasty.

Taste:
wow, great mouthfeel. Soft on the palate with a twinkle of carbonation at the end. Again, bannana up front which subsides to some apple cider. Not malty or hoppy, just thick fruit. It finishes very well. It gets thin and watery just at the end which is nice to your taste buds.

Notes:
Overall, I am very pleased with this beer. It has nice head/nose/taste, not overly expensive, and not too hard to find. A great introduction to dunkel:)
