Had this classic Oktoberfest at my beer tasting club recently. Didn't see a best before date. Poured it into a schooner. (Well, part of it!)
A - clear copper color. moderate obvious carbonation with only a half-finger head and little lacing
S - big bready malt nose on this; hint of spices
T - this is pretty much what I'd expect from an Oktoberfest: all big bready/toasty malts. Sweet, but not overly so. Some slight initial hops bitterness, but it's overwhelmed by the massive malt profile. Finishes like spiced bread...
M - very light body, almost no carbonation at all
D - very easy drinking; could imagine drinking huge steins of this beer
This one nailed the mark; obviously a classic, but nice to try among many other recent Oktoberfests - definitely the standout. If you want to experience the style this is where to go!
