Poured into a pint glass, slightly chilled is... my introduction to the style!

It fills up my (imperial!) pint glass to the brim with a foamy two fingers of white froth that lingers long, over a beautifully clear golden amber with lots of carbonation streams throughout. 4.46.

The aroma hits me right away with caramel, honey, and marmalade. It's also quite floral. To quote Rammstein, "Du Riechst So Gut." 4.65.

Flavors here match what's going on in the aroma. More caramel, honey, and marmalade, but also a little nuttiness, and a substantially bready finish. 4.49.

It's full-bodied, and has quite a carbonated bite. 4.33.

A very orderly beer that is uniform in it's particular (and pleasant) qualities.

Draft pour into pint glass, Town Tavern, Duryea

This was excellent, however, I really think the tap handle and the beer were criss crossed.
This beer was orangey in flavor with a bit of biscuit malt and honey. It didn't reveal any traditional Okto traits like bready, toffee, caramel, or sweet malts.
Perplexing. I only had a glass of Great Lakes Okto previous to this, so a mixed up palate doesn't seem likely. It was very enjoyable (I had two), but will have to find a bottle to get to the bottom of this mystery...

An excellent marten style German lager, very drinkable and true to style. Classic light amber color, generous carbonation and nice lacing. A bready, carmel, malt smell in the glass and translated directly to the palate. Medium body, malty with a very unusual hop spiciness that was almost metallic-like. Nobody makes an Octoberfest like the Barvarian's and Ayinger is right in the mix. Delish...

500mL bottle into a mug
no bottling dates

A: Pours a crystal clear copper/amber color with 2.5 fingers width of slightly off white head that dissipates down fairly quickly and leaves almost no lacing. 3.75

S: Very malty, lots of caramel malt, toasted, nutty, a bit of sugary sweetness, doughy, faint spiciness. Well done. 4

T: Lots of sweet malts, some spicy hop notes, a bit floral, caramel malt. Good amount of spice, with sweet malts to balance it out. Quite nice. 4

M/D: Lighter side of medium bodied, carbonation on the higher end- a touch too much for my liking, drinkability is good. 3.5

O: Nice example of the style. Blanket statements are dangerous, but in general the American breweries tend to do a pretty poor job of emulating this style, and in the rare occurrence that I will go for an Oktoberfest, it will nearly always been one from one of the traditional German powerhouses. 4

Overall: 3.93

Kicked up a huge head- frothy, thick white foam that laced the glass beautifully. Clear golden color. Smell is bready, malty, with a hint of honey-like sweetness. Tastes just like the smell, although I get some bitterness (the German word is herb) in the finish. Mouthfeel is fairly light-bodied, that I would be satisfied to roll around on my palate all day long. This one makes me feel like I'm back in Deutschland sitting in Biergarten on a lazy warm herbst (fall) afternoon. Prost BAs!

Appearance: Super clear, bright amber. Whipped eggwhite head, very dense and foamy. Lacing and retention are excellent.

Nose: Lavender candy, clean malt, yeast, tiny citrus. Great nose!

Taste: Perfect copper, chewy, sweetness. Carmel, honey and maple.

Notes: fantastic! One of the better beers I've ever had. Definitely the best Marzen.
