You know I didnt even know Ayinger made a weizenbock, man was I in in the dark.Poured a mix of tea and lemonade with a large blooming crown atop that settled very slowly into a creamy-like mass.A mix of green apple and lemon stands out most in the nose, light yeasty spice and sweet alcohol shows thru as well.Lightly medicinal and clove spice hit the palate melding into lemon pith and sweetish alcohol, although the alcohol is not obtrusive.Honestly I would have never imagined the abv of this beer, its not light as far as feel goes,it just goes down easily.A nice beer from a very tradional brewery.

Appearance - This is a thick, and I mean thick, dingy orange in color. It looks like a pool of yeast. The head is white with a slight orangish tinge and came up easy. The sediment was massive in the bottle and I gave it a few swirls before pumping it in the glass.

Smell - The light orange peel and modest banana are a perfect fruity compliment to the sharp and powerful yeast. There's a couple of ways to do this style and this is my favorite right here with fruits that are light and not pushy and a yeast that really takes command of the nose. The malts are very light but just big enough to garnish attention.

Taste - Everything from the nose delivers at the taste. The orange isn't bitter like an orange peel but not overly sweet. The banana, which can be offensive in more heavy-handed versions of the style, here is appropriate and well-behaved. The yeast is no joke though jumping right in front of the line and letting the world know who's running this show. The malts don't so much add tons of flavor as they do structure.

Mouthfeel - This is big in the mouth, I'd say medium-bodied, with a nice tingly carbonation. It's not light and floaty like a weizen but still manages to impress.

Drinkability - This is an all around terrific beer and shows a lot of discipline for this most difficult style. I'd say that this is one of the hardest beers to do just right but Ayinger pulled it off quite nicely.

This is my first Weizenbock but I decided if I was going to try one it had to be from the legendary brewers that are Ayinger. Almost everything they make is gold. But speaking of gold, that's almost the color of this beer. This beer has a beautiful golden yellow color, it is beautiful to look at. I poured my beer into a glass and made sure that beer was nice and cold.

I'm a big fan of Hefeweizen beers and from my understanding a Weizenbock is a variation of that core style, just a more flavorful and powerful (higher alcohol content) variation.

This beer is really enjoyable. What I get from this beer is a creamy smooth mouthfeel that has notes of yeast/bread, ripe bananas, bubblegum, and a hint of citrus. It has very similar notes to their Ur-Weisse beer but this beer is stronger. The alcohol is very well masked though. This beer is VERY filling. It is thick and creamy in your mouth and by the time it reaches the stomach it feels like that yeast just expands out. This is like a meal in a glass (just like their Ur-Weisse). Because of this you will end up sipping this beer, which is great because you just want to enjoy every sip!

There is NO BITTER taste. I'm one of those people who hates bitter (hoppy) beers. I just can't understand why people pretend to like those beers, haha. The human body has evolved to dislike bitter things, hence why we hardly eat anything that is bitter (fact). This beer is on the opposite spectrum of the beer world. This is a malty beer so have no fear people with tastebuds, this actually tastes pleasant! You don't have to pretend to like this, you just will. :)

Hazy yellow-orange pour with a thick, mousse-like crown, which it wears throughout.

Spice dominates the nose with clove, oregano, rosemary, with faint banana and peppery hops.

Taste is less focused on the spice and more focused on fresh banana and sweet malt to bounce back and forth with the spice. No detectable alcohol and very clean with a short finish.

Creamy and soft, with a faily light body and high drinkability.

Poured into a weizen glass.

A - Even a gentle pour yields more than three finger of white head on top of a honey colored liquid. Lots of carbonation rising. Head has ridiculous retention and leaves sheets of lacing.

S - Lots of banana, a bit of spice, quite bready, faint bubblegum. Smells nice.

T - Taste is on the sweet side, a little like banana bread with a bit of clove. Nice yeast presence, with a faint bubblegum taste. A mild bitterness counteracts some of the sweetness. Very nice.

M - Medium bodied, somewhat creamy, with a mild sticky sweetness.

O - Very tasty beer. A bit of a meal in a glass, but nothing wrong with that. A bit more weizen than bock, but very tasty.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 500ml bottle into a weizen glass.

Appearance: From the pour I got a tall three to four finger head of slow fading stiff foam over a cloudy flat tan/orange colored liquid. Lots of visible carbonation flows up to the head which also makes lots of slick lace patterns on the glass.

Smell: The nose is full of estery, fruity and bready yeast notes.

Taste/Palate: The flavor has loads of tasty wheat character. There is a semi-sweet mix of bread malt, tart wheat and hops with a twist of lemon and green banana peel. The finish leans more to the dry side with a very mild hop presence. Its palate feels lively and well carbonated with a firm medium body.

Notes: This is a lovely showcase of deep wheaty flavor.

Bottle pours a very hazy, golden body with a tall vanilla hued head. Good retention and sticky lacing is left on the glass.

Aroma is scrumptious. Overripe banana, clove, toasted wheat bread, honey, and a hint of noble hops.

Mouthfeel is creamy and satiny. Medium body has an ideal subtle carbonation.

Taste mirrors the aroma. Bready wheat, clove, cracked white peppercorns, ripe bananas, a lemony hint, spicy and earthy hops, and some yeast. Alcohol is not detected.

Yessir! This one hits the spot. Slightly on the malty side but exquisitely balanced.

Pours a cloudy dark straw color with a white head. The main aroma is bready malts and German yeast but you also get some banana and clove. The flavor is heavy on the banana and clove but the bready malts are still there. Thinner mouthfeel and medium carbonation. I had read reviews stating this was basically a souped-up hefeweizen and those reviews were correct. Whatever it is, it is very good.

Pours cloudy dark amber with a moderate head. Huge pleasant aroma of banana, pear, cloves and peaches. Taste is sweet, fruity and delicious, similar to the Ayinger Ur-Weisse multiplied by 2. Thankfully all of the Ayinger beers are easy to find in the area for which I am extremely grateful. For me they are the gold standard of Bavarian beers although I have never travelled abroad. I have consumed several cases of the weizenbock and ur-weisse and have never been disappointed, regardless of what I am eating, drinking or feeling. They are truly miraculous in this respect, always enjoyable.

A: Cloudy light orange, color is light for style. Medium head fades quickly.

S: Banana, cloves, bubblegum and yeast. Very faint touch of boozy alcohol.

T: Like the smell but with a nice wheat maltiness, and a boozy finish that would normally be a negative but works in this beer.

M: Medium-high body and carbonation. Smooth. Alcohol is light on the tongue despite its flavor contribution.

O: A little different from what I expect from a weizenbock, but tasty. Nothing mind blowing, just good solid beer.

Bluh, here we go again with an overrated style/beer from this perspective. Pour, nothing too scary yet, looks decent, good carbonation. Smell, meh, rancid, taste has some mixture of dust, mustard, banana and wheat.

Not much for that kind of mouthfeel, and hence, makes this guy undrinkable for the most part. Glad I only bought one. The aroma is pretty much the flavor. No thanks.

Appearance is great one of those billowing beer heads from the commercials this brew is ready for it's close up, big bubbled sturdy carbonation much like a hefe. I love most of Ayinger's products and so far this one is no different call it love at first sight if you must. Slightly clouded with yeast sediment, bright golden body with an effervescent billowing egg shell white head. Lacing is intricate as all hell lines my glass sip by sip, great stuff. Toward the end of my pour I literally had to smack the bottom of the bottle against the edge of my table to let the sediment loose to pour it.

Aroma strong banana clove typical of hefe with some yeast nuttiness as well. Alcohol is evident but so are all of the esters that make this yeast strain famous. A bit of lemon zest and herbal hops are evident but really masked by the esters and alcohol notes.

Flavor wise this stuff is great big booze ridden hefezeweizen, goes down smooth with some banana, apple, clove and nutty yeast edges. Most hefe's are so delicate that it's hard to describe it all this one smacks you in the face with the esters and booze in a good way.

Mouthfeel is medium to full bodied flow, goes down smooth. A bit cloying in the same breath but the big bodied hefe is such a welcomed surprise that I'm cool with it. If you don't like a good hefeweizen you're not going to like this.

Drinkability is great another fine creation from Ayinger strong like the horned goat and smooth like the winter snow. I'm down for another and more if you can find this brew.

Bottle purchased from Sherlock's in Decatur, GA.

Pours a hazy orange-yellow color with a giant white head. The head eventually dissipates into a thin layer on top leaving solid lacing.

Smells of bubblegum, bananas, and clove, in that order. As it warms a clean sweet wheat flavor takes the place of the bubblegum and the banana aromas fade a bit.

Tastes good. Banana and cloves kick things off and are backed by a solid amount of sweetness. The ending is crisp and leaves hints of bananas lingering on the palate. The alcohol is hardly noticeable.

Mouthfeel is very good. It's got a smooth thickness with grainy carbonation.

Drinkability is also very good. I finished the bottle with no problem and could have a few more.

Overall I am not a huge fan of this style but it's hard to not be a fan of a beer this good. It's not terribly complex but all of the flavors hold their own and have a good amount of pop. Well worth a shot.
