Alabaster looks just like a wit ought to. Bright color, thin white head, and totally opaque. Smells are weak but are yeasty and citrusy. Taste is a wondefully balanced sweet citrus, wheat tang, bright spice, and really nice acidity that make a beer so refreshing and drinkable I could barely keep it in the glass long enough to finish this review. Awesome summer brew.

Delicate and perfumy- the high floral character and fruit-forward soda taste sides this ale with the more sweet tooth friendly kind of crowd.

Medium gold in color Alabaster pours with significant haze that causes the ale to look a few shades darker than it probably actually is. With part-fizz, part-froth fashion- an eggshell white column of foam billows to the rim of the glass with those large-knit bubbles that falls nearly as quickly as it rose. Steadfast at a thin translucent sheet across the glass, the ale struggles to lace despite such frothy potential.

Strongly aromatic with high coriander and dried Curacao orange peels- the scent is firmly fruity and sweet with spice. Seemingly of Pez candy, its sweet and candied tone is supple and playfully seductive. Its sweet taste is a mix of both dry wheat bread and soda-type syrup as it alternates taste- the first is unreasonably sweet, the other is of grain. The fruit and spice makes me think Sprite or 7up as the beer's citrus taste is refreshing- albeit lacking depth or richness.

Medium-light, the beer's long-lived sweetness gives greater impressions of weight, its high rate of carbonation gives the sugars a lift from the tongue and a greater impression of dryness. But as the carbonation erupts and then wisps away, what's left behind is lemon and orange soda pop. A finish of light vanilla, mint, spice and carbonic bitterness keeps the beer supple and zesty.

Its strong fruit and sweet character hinges on wine coolers and shandy- fine to drink but not exhibiting the character that comprise beers of the highest quality. True, I'm a bit seduced by the taste in a non-beer world. But here, much of its character is ill-represented. It'll appeal more to the Leinenkugle Sunset Wheat type of drinker.

Poured a haz, cloudy, light yellow. Light white ring of foam, not much head, but it did leave lacing. Aroma is mild spicy phenols and a hint of bready malt. Taste follows through with light malt, a hint of spice, very well balanced. Mouthfeel was a lighter in body with smooth carbonation. It's an easy drinker and good to have on a warmer day.

Light yellow in color with tons of carbonation and a huge fizzy white head that let down quickly. Aroma is light banana, clove and citrus, nice and light and airy with touches of lemon zest and fresh spice as it warms. Very clean taste, perfect hints of citrus and spice layered on the banana based malts. Quick, clean, light and very drinkable. This one was gone like a flash.

Served in a Devil's Backbone willibecher.

This has to be one of the last bits of the post-DLD death march haul. It's gotta be. Right? This ear pours a clear golden straw (kinda odd, considering everyone else's has been cloudy...) with a finger of white foamy head on top. The nose comprises lemon zest, oranges, hoppy florals, coriander, cardamom, and wheat. The taste follows almost exactly, adding only a light hoppy bitterness. The body is light, with moderate carbonation and a refreshingly dry finish. Overall, a decent wit, not the greatest, but tasty enough and highly drinkable.

Pours a beautiful golden color, with a thin white head with good retention. When held to light it the golden color shows to be quite cloudy.

Floral aroma does little to add or distract from this brew. It's nice, but nothing out of the ordinary, and nothing distinguishable.

Taste is good but again, does not seem to be overstated. Or understated. A bit of coriander, a bit of perhaps citrus at the back of the mouth. Just, generally, an OK brew.

Mouthfeel is excellent with light carbonation throughout, and a clean palate all around. This leads to an easy-drinking wit that is not harsh on any portion of the experience.

A: Pours a very pale cloudy yellow hue with a nice fizzy white head. A bit of foam really lingers with this one. Nice spotty lace.

S: Lots of zesty citrus and a touch of spice.

T: Lemon zest up front with hints of lemon grass. Corriander in the middle with a touch of yeast and white pepper. Very zesty almost to the point of tart.

M: Light and pretty refreshing.

D: Not bad at all. Not my favorite style, nor my favorite beer, but overall not bad.

My favorite of the brews I have tried from OBB. A belgian-style witbier that was suprisingly very tasty.

A- Sungolden yellow color with a great frothy head with sticky lacing. Retention is superior.

S- Smells of beautiful belgian yeast strains, and summer.

T- A tart witbier that really resembles the good stuff from overseas. There is nice coriander and orange zest flavor that leads to a smooth finish. This may be one of the best for a hot summer day.

M- Perfectly delicious.

D- Perfect in summertime.

Smells as it tastes- bright, crisp, and unobtrusive. Has a nice, balanced malt profile with an appropriate yeast zestiness. It's not a mind blowing beer, but given that the Indiana Amber is quite astringent for the style, I was glad Oaken Barrel delivered a more complex and balanced beer. Very drinkable- several of these would be no problem. The only complaint I have is that it is pretty thin- needs some more carbonation to make it a little more fun to drink.

Pours a great cloudy blonde color (pale yellow with sunlight tinges), with nice starting head and good lacing for a wheat beer. Great scent, very malty/wheaty with nice spicy overtones, notably pepper and coriander. Great taste as well, a nice crisp and clean feel with a great wheat flavor and nice coriander and orange flavorings with a nice spicy finish; hopped just enough to keep a great balance. It goes down nice, this is an excellent wit.

A-This beer pours a very light straw color, with decent carbonation.

S-The smell is a very distinct mixture of orange and coriander.

T-The coriander definitely comes out on top. I tried one with an orange and one without. I would recommend skipping the orange slice as it added nothing to the flavor already present

M-a bit watery

D- A little too much coriander to be a good session beer but worth the price for six.

I really like Oaken Barrel, and Alabaster is one of their best.

This was surprisingly good, from a random assortment hauled back from Indiana.

Opaque pale yellow, with a bubbly bone white head of foam. Carbonation was visible in the glass.

Spicy aroma, floral with orange zest. It was pretty clean and appealing.

It was flavorful and spicy, big earthy coriander, and wheat notes. Orange was there, some honey, but the spice came out on top. Feel was a little slick from the wheat, but it had a decent carbonation level. Not as sessionable as Hoegaarden, but it was more flavorful, which certainly counts for something. Definitely worth a try.

A-Cloudy blonde with suspended yeast, small head medium lace.

S-Faint citrus and coriander.

T-Coriander and lemon zest, faint sourness and bready yeast.

M-Medium thick with seltzery carbonation on the finish.

D-Decent brew, worth checking out but not Oaken Barrel's best.
